As I continue to build a body of work for my October solo show (!!!), I’m hiding in the bush painting en plein air as much as I can in the midst of damp winter weather.

💌The best place to hear studio updates is my newsletter — For about a year now I have been growing a Substack that expands upon my creative pursuits, putting to words what is otherwise only expressed in paint. It’s a place I can make connections between what I am reading, thinking about, seeing, and making.

More than just art news... it is a collection of literary reflections, poetry, artwork, and stories from an artist’s life in the wild wonderful bush of southern Tasmania.

What a fun place to be! The light was just right, the company was fabulous, and the dogs… hilarious.

Hi friends 🌞 although I’ve been quiet on here, the studio (and life) are full of changes as new work emerges.
I’m finally fulfilling a longtime dream of painting (almost) exclusively en plein air. This body of work has truly been 3 years in the making, but only now being made manifest as brush hits board.
I’ll share more soon (especially in my May newsletter), but here are a few detail shots I took today just for you 😚

There’s nothing like it: soaking in the light, studying the landscape in real time, watching colours change. I’ve always loved the challenge of plein air, but these latest sessions I’ve been fuelled with a fresh determination, freedom, & confidence.
Yay!

I’m thinking of all the little things that make a home -

Carrot candles from my dearest sister, a winner photograph by my artsy husband, flowers from the garden, and two new plein air paintings done as the sun set last Tuesday.

Small and significant and filled with memory.
