Kengugró 40 years of memories
🎥 Our first visit to Hungary in 1987 as a group after forming in 1986. We are participating in a parade with the Bocskai Együttes from Hajdúböszörmény. This was made possible by Kiss Ferenc, teacher and dancer from Debrecen who was teaching the Bocskai egyuttes.

This year marks a very special milestone for us — 40 years of dancing, music, friendships and keeping Hungarian culture alive in Sydney.
We’d love you to join us as we celebrate four decades of Kengugró with an afternoon of memories, live Hungarian dance performances, táncház, music from The Transylvanics, and plenty of familiar faces from over the years.

Weekly dance classes are back every wednesday night from 7:30-9:30pm.

Music workshops will resume Thursday 20th August from 7:30-9:30pm.

Dancers from Kengugró (Syd) & Fonó Hungarian Dance Group - Melbourne joined dancers from around the world to learn teaching techniques specific to Hungarian folk dance.
Wrapping up our first week of a 2 week program at the Magyar Táncművészeti Egyetem - Hungarian Dance University, we have been introduced to special exercises, warm-ups, turning, lads dance, children’s material and choreography.
We have toured the costume basement of the Álami state folklore ensemble and ventured out to the UriMuri folk kocsma.
Looking forward to another week of inspiration.

What a turnout! ✨️
Our BYO Táncház was buzzing from start to finish, with a packed dance floor, plenty of great music and an incredible atmosphere all night long. 💃🎻
Nights like these are what folk dancing is all about and we are excited to take this energy with us to Hungary in July as we celebrate Kengugró's 40th Anniversary! ✨️
