Meet Lucy-Rose 🎻✨
A longtime cellist with KPO (15+ years!), Lucy-Rose brings a wealth of experience and a deep love of ensemble music. From performing overseas to helping produce the Kids Proms for the past decade, she’s been a driving force both on and off the stage.
A primary school music teacher by day, Lucy-Rose is passionate about sharing the joy of music with young people—and can’t wait for this year’s Kids Proms, where her love of performance and education come together 🎶

After years of watching Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra concerts (with her now-husband Edward on viola!), Emily Who joined the KPO family in 2017—bringing her passion for music education and children’s performance to life.
Teaming up with cellist Lucy-Rose, the pair dream up magical Kids Proms by blending storytelling with classical music—letting the music lead the adventure. From pirates to space, circus to jungle, every show sparks imagination and introduces kids to the joy of orchestral music.
Now heading into her 10th year, Emily loves creating concerts where learning meets play—and sharing the magic of music with the next generation 💫
Rehearsals kick off this week! 🎻

Congratulations to all of the wonderful performers at the KPO Concerto Competition Semi-Finals.
The audience, orchestra volunteers and the adjudicators were so impressed by the standard of concert performance, technical skill and musicality. They also appreciated the outstanding accompanists who supported the soloists and made the piano sound like an orchestra!

The three adjudicators were:
Luke Byrne, Pianist, composer, conductor and international Musical Director
Airena Nakamura, Principal 2nd Violin and Section Leader in the Opera Australia Orchestra, former Finalist and mother of a Finalist!
Ben Jacks, French Horn Soloist who served as Principal Horn with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for 25 seasons.

They found it difficult to choose the Six Finalists but the final choices came down to the most musical performances with the potential to work with an orchestra. We look forward to hearing them all perform with the orchestra on Sunday June 28 at 3.00pm at the Concourse. Tickets are on sale now!

The six Finalists are:
Christina Bhang - violin - Korngold
Kiara Morish*ta-Lee - flute - Mozart
Jaemin Yoo - viola - Bartok
Leon Spikmans - double bass - Bottesini
Jeffrey D**g - piano - Chopin
Connie Liu - violin - Sibelius

Highly Commended performers are:
Justin Gao - marimba - Golovko
Elizabeth Luiskandl - violin - Lalo
Lennard Suen - piano - Rachmaninoff
Cloris Xu - oboe - Martinu
