After many wonderful years, the UNSW Medical R***e Society (MedR***e) will officially close its chapter due to inactivity.
Since 1975, MedR***e has been a place of creativity, chaos, laughter, and incredible dedication. Dozens of productions, countless late-night rehearsals, and an entire community of cast, band, tech, writers, and crew came together to create something truly special.
To everyone who was ever part of MedR***e — thank you. Your passion, enthusiasm, and support kept the spirit of r***e alive for nearly five decades. Every show, every rehearsal, every inside joke and backstage scramble helped shape what MedR***e became.
It has been an honour to be part of that journey and to help carry the torch, even if only for a moment in its long history.
While it’s sad to see the society come to an end, this isn’t something to mourn too heavily. As the saying goes, no party lasts forever — but that doesn’t make the party any less meaningful.
So instead of being sad that MedR***e has disbanded, let’s be grateful that it happened at all.
What remains are the friendships we built, the memories we created, and the stories we’ll keep telling long after the curtain has fallen.
