so it was another 4am launch into the water on the very last day over the 4 day fishing comp with my good mate Toby Eardly and I. We were already at the tip of Enderby island and the sun wasn't evan up, by the time we reached bare rock the sun was only just peeking over the horizon. We decided to quickly put the trolling rods out for our first lap of bare rock. Toby was rigging up all of his rods from previous break off's and completely covered in hooks and lures. When not evan 2 minutes passes, My rod suddenly starts screaming, Me skippering the boat puts the boat into neutral and grab my rod as toby is trying his best to wind-in all the rods covered in hooks and sh*t(We had 4 rods out) He managed to get in all the rods as i was still fighting the fish for about 5 minutes now on only 15kg line and only using 200lb mono too the lure. It finally came to the top and all i could hear is Toby 'yelling' get it closer as he's holding the gaf. Toby quickly gaf's the fish and Im yelling at him bring it into the boat 'repeatedly' Toby Starts Yelling i need help pulling it in over the side of the boat. So i quickly help him drag the biggest mackral I've ever caught into the boat. We actually 'almost' couldent fit it into the 160l esky, But with a bit of shuffling and bending we were successful.
