I feel like feet can make or break a bird portrait. I know some artists just avoid painting them all together, and I can't blame them! They are SO unforgiving!
Why?! Is it because they're such a different texture to feathers? I don't know 🤷‍♀ī¸ but I decided I'd better get them done sooner rather than later

This group of contour feathers under the wing are finally (mostly) done! They need a bit more yellow, but we'll come back to that.

Where to next 🤔 I'd like to finish the wing, but there are a few more contour feathers on the body and legs that I think I should finish before moving on to slightly different tones... I'm sure there's probably a 'proper' way to progress, but we're just winging it to be honest 😂
