The next biennial festival is happening late Sep 2026, with Lead Curator Sebastian Henry-Jones This festival brings together artists from urban and regional contexts for a four day celebration of the state of contemporary art in Australia. Taking its regional situation as focus, Cementa celebrates the diversity of voices that can be heard within our contemporary arts communities. We showcase contemporary art across the spectrums of generation, process, and practice.

Four months to go!

Cementa26 is creeping closer, and we are very much counting down to September.

What are you most looking forward to? The art? The road trip? The people? The weird and wonderful things you’ll stumble across in Kandos and surrounds?

Cementa26 is curated by Sebastian Henry-Jones.

We are excited to be working with Sebastian as he brings his vision for this year’s festival to life across Kandos and surrounds.

For Cementa26, Sebastian is interested in art as a way of revealing what is already there: local forms of culture, creativity, histories, stories, Wiradjuri culture and Country. His vision considers how art can act as a lens or frame, helping audiences pay closer attention to the value of what is already in front of us.

He is also thinking deeply about the role of art in responding to climate change, cultural and environmental health, and the possibilities of collective, place-specific practice.

Cementa26 takes place from 17 to 20 September 2026.

Cementa is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW and the Australian Government through Creative Australia.

The countdown is on. Cementa Festival returns to Kandos and surrounds this September.

We’re kicking things off with the first look at the visual identity for Cementa26, designed by the brilliant Marilena Hewitt.

It’s bold, playful, squiggly, a little bit strange, and very ready to carry us into four days of experimental contemporary art across Kandos and surrounds.

Cementa26 takes place from 17 to 20 September 2026, with artists, program details and plenty more festival goodness to come very soon.

Calling all local artists for Cementa Salon!

Cementa26 is coming in September, but the fun is starting early!

This year, the Cementa Salon, the jewel of the festival, is getting its own moment in the gallery. We’re opening in July to build the buzz, warm up the walls and give local artists a full two months in the spotlight before the festival week rolls into town.

The Salon is open to all artists from the Mid and Central West of NSW, with special priority given to artists local to Kandos, Rylstone and surrounds.

So consider this your early warning: start making, finishing, framing, stretching, polishing, photographing or finally pulling that work out of the corner. Artwork delivery will be 11-12 July, so there’s your date to aim for.

More details coming very soon!
