Zig Zag Gallery The Zig Zag Gallery is on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, situated in the heart of Kalamunda in the picturesque Perth Hills.

The Centre was designed as a multi purpose facility and has been developed to encourage greater community involvement and to assist with the growth of visitation to the Shire of Kalamunda and the Perth Hills as a tourism destination through the following key areas:

* Visitor Centre
* Art Gallery
* Meeting Facilities
* Zig Zag Café

The Centre is situated in the ‘Kalamunda Cultural

Precinct' and is located in between the Kalamunda Library and the Kalamunda History Village. The centre has been strategically placed to draw visitors to the precinct to experience the history, cultural and attractions that the Shire of Kalamunda offers. The Centre opened on 17 September 2011 at 10am.

Celebrate creativity at the Kalamunda Art Awards!

Join us at the Zig Zag gallery until June 28 to explore an incredible array of original artworks, many from our talented local hills artists. Discover pieces that inspire you, and perhaps even take one home to brighten your collection! Don’t forget to cast your vote for your favourite artwork! The artist with the most votes will win the People’s Choice Award with the prize of $500.

The winner will be revealed on 28 June

The 2026 Kalamunda Art Awards are on now and running until June 28 at the Zig Zag Gallery in Kalamunda. View a selection of original artworks, many created by local hills artists, or make a purchase and add to your collection.

Congratulations to our 2026 winners!

The 2026 Kalamunda Art Awards opened at the beginning of the month at the Zig Zag Gallery in Kalamunda, and prizes awarded across several categories.

First prize went to Ian Moss for ‘Circles of Your Mind’, a beautifully made, turned jarrah bowl with an airbrushed detail that catches the light in an intriguing way.

Peter Allen won the prize for Painting and 2D with his watercolour, ‘Metamorphosis’. The judges commented on the autumnal tones, layers of pigment, and interesting composition.

The prize for sculpture / 3D went to Barbara George for ‘Equus 2’, a pit fired pottery urn featuring a horse-shaped handle and real hair detail, with a delicate natural glaze effect.

Anne Bennet took home the Environmentally Aware prize, for her piece ‘Target Species?’, made from wool, wire and polycarbonate, and referencing the deadly effect of rodenticides on native wildlife.

These wonderful pieces will be on display until 28 June

Congratulations to 2026 Kalamunda Art Award Overall Winner, Ian Moss, for his striking Jarrah wood piece, Circles of Your Mind.

This remarkable work took out the exhibition's top honour and is just one of many incredible artworks on display as part of this year's Award.

The exhibition is open until 28 June.
