Performing and telling stories is a birth right of humanity. In all cultures throughout history and through the world, this has been a means to connect and bring together the community. Part of our mission is to create opportunities for all voices to be heard. We at Studio Space Inclusive Arts, along with the many inclusive performance art groups in Tasmania are feeling inspired and overcome with joy to see the direction the Launceston City Council are taking to make our city’s centre stage a place that is accessible to everyone. For far too long our beautiful heritage buildings have been a monument to exclusion. There is a lot of confusion and controversy surrounding this project and a lot of frustration around cost and timelines. Like the stadium in Hobart. I am voting Yes Princess Theatre upgrade and YES INCLUSION. Upon completion we plan to walk and wheel across the boards with our fellow colleagues and advocates and bring Launceston an Inclusive celebration showcase ! More details to come. Important to remember that dreams can come true if barriers can be removed, and we hope to continue to work with our community to keep removing these barriers! Read here what this upgrade means for all of us.
The redevelopment of the Princess Theatre & Earl Arts Centre complex will improve the accessibility and functionality of one of Launceston's most important cultural facilities.
