* Children's Art Classes I began making art as a means to let my spirit soar above the daily grind many years ago.

Since that time when I snatched brief periods of creative output between long stretches of caring for my small children I have noticed a distinct correlation between creative output and well being, both in myself and in those I have worked with. Originally trained as a primary teacher I taught in schools in NSW and QLD before embarking on the journey of parenthood. I undertook studies in Fine Art

and further studies in Education in the 1990’s completing a Diploma of Art, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Fine Art and Graduate Diploma of Expressive & Creative Therapies in Brisbane over the following 18 years, during which time I also facilitated creative art workshops for children and adults. I have exhibited work in Brisbane galleries, Inverell and in numerous competitions over the years. My work is held in private collections in QLD and NSW. I moved to Inverell in 2009 where I continue to paint and facilitate creative art experiences for people of all ages.

So much creative output at Inverell Art Gallery yesterday! Everyone really enjoyed painting their colourful Yoyoi Kusawa pumpkins and some wonderful artworks were taken home. Students were: Eliza Stewart, Audrey Stewart, Amalia Blair, Isla Pordage, Jack Fenner, Ben Fenner, Charlie Burman, Sadie Eddie, Billie Eddy, Lindsey Ellis, Arthur Hardie and Ted Hardie.

Have just delivered this newly completed painting to the Inverell Art Gallery for the annual Inverell Art Prize exhibition. I've called it 'Heartland' because it depicts the farming heartlands of North Western NSW. Its genesis came from a series of drawings from photos snatched along the Gwydir highway between Inverell and Moree on my many trips to visit Moree’s wonderful regional Art Gallery, the wonderful Yaamaganu coffee shop and Art Gallery and the Moree Art Gallery which always shows an interesting collection of artworks and collectables. Last stop of course is always the Wise Words Book shop, one of the best book stores in North Western NSW.

Now that school holidays are here and with Halloween fast approaching, these art classes at Inverell Art Gallery are a great way to encourage your child's creativity. Book in now to secure a place, as Wednesday's Yoyoi Kusama's Spotted Pumpkin Class is already full.
