The tender for the insurance-funded remediation works has been extended to 1 April 2026. Details here >>> https://www.hinchinbrook.qld.gov.au/our-council/procurement-and-tenders/current-procurement-and-tender-opportunities/

EARLIER @ 1.56PM on 13 MARCH 2026

Council is progressing to restore and enhance the 🎭 JL Kelly Theatre Ingham, ensuring this much-loved community venue can return to full operation and continue serving the community ❤️.

Council is currently undertaking insurance-funded remediation works to address flood damage sustained at the theatre 🌧️.

These works include replacing moisture-affected flooring 🪵, restoring seating 💺, addressing mould 🧼, and repairing interior finishes 🛠️ to return the theatre to at least its February 2025 flood standard condition.

The tender for these works is now open 📄 and will close on 18 March 2026 📅, marking an important step toward welcoming the community back to the cinema 🍿🎬.

In addition to the remediation project, Council will also deliver a much-needed refurbishment of the theatre foyer 🚪 to improve the overall visitor experience 😊. This upgrade is being delivered through the Works for Queensland Program, proudly funded by the Queensland Government 🤝 in association with Hinchinbrook Shire Council.

Council will update the community on the progression of these works as new information comes to hand 🔔.
