Last nights Hursty Dance Club event was so good. 🎉🥳

It was like a NLNL session, but with the lights on! Honestly, the vibe was so welcoming and fun and everyone felt permission to share some very big dance moves if they wanted to!

And now it’s time to return to my first dance love and give it some attention again…

This week (a little overdue) there will be an Oz music flavour to the playlist, in particular referencing the Aria hall of fame!

Last week six new artists/bands were celebrated and welcomed to the Aria Hall of fame… so let’s enjoy them this Monday night!

Hursty Dance Club is on tomorrow night, Saturday 20th June 7-11pm at Hurstbridge Bowling club.

Tickets are via Humanitix which you can use to purchase your tickets at the door (if still available) Otherwise bring correct cash - $25. There’s been so much interest in this online, if you’ve been thinking of coming, please don’t miss out!

Wondering if this event is for you?

If you’re over 25 (and heaps older) and miss the days when your weekends were full of events and parties with dance floors that you could lose (and find) yourself on, then, YES Hursty Dance Club is for you!

It’s a simple concept, I book the club and the DJ and invite you all along. We create a fun, friendly, inclusive vibe where friendship groups and people coming along on their own, are all welcome to sing and dance to all the best popular music from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & 2000’s.

This event is especially popular with women, but everyone is welcome. The club has ramp access and accessible toilets too.

The bowling club bar will be operating to purchase drinks and you can bring food in if you wish (I’ll make sure there’s a few bowls of chips)!

Dance your troubles away or just enjoy dressing up and catching up with friends, whilst going no further than Hurstbridge!

Ready to experience the freedom of dancing in the dark? Perhaps you’ve got some questions about what to expect?

We are a friendly group of locals who dance in Hurstbridge Hall every Monday during term time (and sometimes on the holidays, which is communicated on this page). Most people come on their own, some come with friends, but it’s a solo experience, we all find our own patch in the dark to enjoy our dancing, so it really makes no difference!

We turn all of the lights out so that the hall is properly dark, but as your eyes adjust you will be able to see enough light to know where others are dancing. We’re all there to let loose on the dance floor and move our bodies however we like so you can expect to have zero inhibitions!

I love a social dance with friends (which is why I created Hursty Dance Club) but what I experience at NLNL is something completely different, it really is an opportunity to concentrate on yourself, not on what others think of your moves! You’ll feel free, playful and creative. It’s also very cathartic and you’ll probably work up a sweat! AND it’s all wrapped up in a wonderfully nostalgic music experience. Our hour long playlist spans many genres and decades of music. Scroll back through this page to see each weeks playlist as examples of what to expect.

The hall is opposite Hurstbridge primary school, we enter off the carpark via the green back door, but please let me know if you need to enter via the ramp to the foyer (I also keep an eye out for people trying to enter that way).

If you like the idea of dancing in the dark, don’t waste any more time building up the courage to come along, you’re going to love it!

💃🕺Tomorrow’s playlist is ready to go!

There’s a 60’s track that makes every bit of my body move, some soul, synth pop, a familiar song as a Fisher re-mix, Sabrina’s Manchild and it’s all sure to ‘Deee-Lite’!

👉I now need to prep our Monday night playlists on Friday afternoons, due to a few changes with my work schedule.

So if you’re ever wanting a song included in the next playlist, make sure you get it to me before Friday midday. If you make a last minute decision to come to a session, and want to try your luck at getting a song included, send it to me after Friday, and if I get a chance I’ll try to make a switch if there’s an easy option. But I can’t guarantee this any more unfortunately.

Better yet, if you attend regularly, prep a Spotify playlist, send me the link and I’ll pop some of your songs in every week! (I’ll also accept a typed up list, it’s just not as easy- so please make sure that the artist and song title are clear).
