A little behind-the-scenes look at tomorrow’s Mosaic Mandala Workshop at Smoke on the Water Festival!

I’ve been busy preparing and cutting up the plates into manageable pieces, ready for participants to shape and arrange into their own unique mosaic mandala designs. The cutting process can feel a little daunting at first, so I’ve done some of the preparation to help everyone get started with confidence.

I’m looking forward to guiding participants through the process, including designing their mandala, learning mosaic techniques, safely cutting and shaping tiles, and creating a beautiful piece. That I will grout for them💚

No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to have a go!

Some projects carry a story long before they’re finished.

This lion has been quietly waiting in my space for over 20 years… gathering dust, holding potential, and perhaps waiting for the right time.

When I first began, I chose white tiles — and it was a clear “no.” So I stopped. And left it.

Recently, I felt drawn back to him. This time, I trusted the process more. I removed what didn’t fit and began again, replacing the tiles with pieces of crockery, setting them slowly into place.

There’s something powerful about returning to a piece — with new eyes, new energy, and a willingness to let go of earlier decisions.

He’s still evolving.
The base is a terracotta lion head, and eventually water will flow from his mouth once I work out how to support his now heavier body.

For now, he’s a reminder:

✨ Not everything needs to be finished quickly
✨ We’re allowed to change direction
✨ Creative pauses are part of the process too

Sometimes, things wait for us until we’re ready.

🦁🙃😆

✨ Mosaics: – Workshop in Nhill ✨

Fancy a Sunday drive to Nhill? I’ll be there and would love you to join me for a relaxed, hands-on mosaic workshop on Sunday 1 March at The Patch.

This beginner-friendly workshop is a full day of creativity where you’ll learn mosaic techniques, explore colour and texture, and create your own unique wall hanging or house number. I’ll guide you through direct and indirect methods, how to cut and shape tiles, and ways to create depth and interest using ceramic tiles.

All materials are provided (including tiles and grout), so you can complete your masterpiece at home. Just bring along an image for inspiration or an A4 or A3 photocopy of a design you’d like to use.

🕙 Time: 10.00am – 4.00pm
📍 Venue: The Patch, 9 Clarence Street, Nhill
💰 Fee: $175 per person

Bookings are essential.

Lately my studio has been holding a lot of quiet meaning. 💛
Inside the kiln are small ceramic pieces — tribute cats made in honour of the passing of ours, a Christmas tree waiting to be lit from within, and delicate flowers and leaves that will soon find their place in a mosaic I’m slowly bringing together.

There’s something deeply humbling about the waiting… being patient while the kiln cools, resisting the urge to rush, trusting the process. It’s tricky — and also one of the most satisfying moments when the time finally comes to open the door and welcome these pieces out into the world.

Art has a way of holding memory, grief, hope and anticipation all at once.

🐾✨💚

I’ve just underglazed this ceramic lily, and it’s one of those moments where you make something and can’t stop looking at it 💚
As I sat with it, I noticed a tiny ant wandering nearby, searching. Watching it had me wondering… what are we looking for?

As we move into 2026, that question feels close to my heart.
For me, more joy feels like a meaningful place to begin.

This is one of the things I love about working with clay and creative processes — they slow us down, invite reflection, and help us notice what’s happening beneath the surface. Sometimes understanding doesn’t come from thinking harder, but from making, noticing, and being with what emerges.

What are you looking for this year?
And could creativity gently support you in finding your way? 🌿✨🌸🪷💚

What a beautiful day in Halls Gap yesterday.

Hosted by Carers Victoria for the Grampians region, the day retreat brought 30 carers from across the area together for a relaxed and nourishing gathering. Participants enjoyed a delicious morning tea and lunch, a native tea tasting, and a gentle creative collage session that I was honoured to facilitate.

The session supported carers to recognise and celebrate their resilience, while exploring simple ways to nurture their wellbeing. No art experience was needed — just a willingness to slow down, connect with the images, notice what spoke to them, and reflect on their creation. Some also used the provided prompts to jot down key words that captured their experience.💚🌿📚✂️

I’m grateful to be able to share these images with permission.

🔥 Carers Week Creations – Fresh from the Kiln! 🔥

I fired the kiln this week on Cup Day so I could return the beautiful ceramics created during Carers Week back in mid-October.

It was such a joy to see the carers appreciate each other’s techniques and delight in the finished pieces. Taking the time to sit together over a coffee for a bit of show and tell was just lovely. ☕💚

So rewarding to witness the creativity, connection and care that continues to flow from that special day.
