Hi! Lots of new followers and I’ve been supremely slack in posting!
As a crash course on what is There You Are, it’s me!
Danielle Nash, Darbsy to friends, working artist, working teacher, working mother. Wife, sister, aunt and friend.
All with their own complexities and time clashes and needs.
I’m a music lover, insect adorer, big picture thinking, small picture focused artist.
I’m working with a person I admire on a bee book , I work with my friend I adore and her incredible team at and on weekdays I’m ’Mrs Nash’ to a bunch of 6 year olds needing someone to nurture them.
Also in the midst of selling my soul space
It’s a juggle I’m here for and…enjoying.
Don’t stop seeing the little things. 🙌 🐝

On Xmas day I was blessed to see a A fiddle beetle (Eupoecila australasiae) which I have JUST painted for our ABC of Australian Bees and again for the .artwalk (practise makes perfect!) holding this beauty in my hands was so special.
An important pollinator, they feed on nectar from flowering plants like eucalypts, pollinating them, while their larvae develop in rotting wood, making them beneficial insects found in gardens and woodlands.
Those ‘grubs’ in your garden? They are the most beautiful beetles and pollinators!

A WIN FOR THE LITTLES • Thrilled to share my newest painting — a celebration of two of Australia’s remarkable pollinators, the Fiddler Beetle (Eupoecila australasiae) and the Great Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa) — as part of the .artwalk in our beautiful Avalon 🌿💛

And it feels wonderfully serendipitous to be posting this on the very day Australia’s new National Nature Laws passed through Parliament.

As said:
“We’re finally seeing stronger protections for our environment – preserving our beautiful forests, safeguards for our precious water resources, and building a safer climate… While it is not perfect, this is a win that will shape the Australia our kids and future generations will inherit – a real step forward for our environment.”

And as reminded us, this is also a moment to keep pushing for the nature we love, noting that “nature was only a partial winner” and there is more work ahead to fully protect our precious places and species.

Thank you for pushing for this change! 👏

Although my work isn’t “modern art,” nature itself is timeless — and painting it feels like a small way of honouring what we’ve been entrusted with. These species, these ecosystems, this living world… they’re a gift. For us now, and for the children who come after us.

Here’s to art, to nature, to community and local schools and to choosing a future where all can flourish together. 🌱✨

Dr Alaa al-Najjir your pain is ours shared, mothers world wide.
My grief for you is consuming and I’m so very sorry for your loss.
Giver of health and wisdom, a paediatrician, this is so enormously unfair.
Words fail me. But I honour your children, 9 of 10 that your birthed, 7 you honoured today with love and hugs and grief and burial. 2 yet to be held by you.
I won’t pretend to imagine this level of grief, anguish. But I hold you and mothers like you in my heart.
This needs to end.

FIRST ALBUM • AVÉ’s first album was Tumbling Like Stars, an ode to David Malouf, one of Australia’s great modern poets. The compositions by 12 Australians composers send you on a transformative, very Australian journey through David’s poems.
This was my first album working with and and I’m not ashamed to admit how deeply humbled and anxious I was to be working with such true artists. Especially whose music was the soul soundtrack to my youth.
This mandala is tidbits of Malouf’s poetry, sometimes obvious, sometimes obtuse. It was a balance between representing the themes of the poems and how I felt about them.
All in all, this was a special project that made me stop questioning my art and feel my way through it, with love and creativity. ♥️

Stars EP • is an EP with various composers with the most beautiful compositions based on Australian poet David Malouf, and special composition of Peace I leave with you by and THE most beautiful Bach composition translated by Joel Davison and Lyndon Davis and Gina Williams into Gadigal, Gubbi and Noongar languages. Honestly, so beautiful.
For this EP’s mandala it was finding the little elements throughout each composition. Parts that gave me goosebumps I illustrated.

latest album • ‘Thought Surrounded by a Halo’ is a collection of ten captivating compositions that bring beloved Australian Poet Gwen Harwood’s poetry to life with an incredible list of Australian composers.
Once again .hurley and do what we all need right now which is soothing, enchanting mystical harmonies and soul driven a capella muuuuusic.
I chose owls as the main focus of this mandala, if like me you had to dissect ‘Barn Owl’ by Gwen for your HSC it had a lasting impression. The moon cycle and other elements of her beautiful poetry hidden within the mandala. There are other more poignant things hidden, can you see them?

2025 • Welcome back to another year of creating.
We saw the bird show on Monday and I was reminded how BEAUTIFUL our birds are.
If you’re in Sydney definitely try to head to the zoo and stay for the bird show. It was magical.
This is a this one is a female as you can see from the yellow speckles in her feathers.
They live for 40-50 years and their population is decreasing due to dwindling tree hollows.
