When working a front somersault step-out into a back tuck, it’s easy to focus on the big skill at the end.
But the back tuck starts before the gymnast even leaves the floor.
A controlled step-out.
A strong rebound.
The right body position.
Maintaining momentum.
If the rebound is weak, rushed or off balance, the back tuck has already been compromised.
That’s why coaches don’t just watch the back tuck.
We’re watching what happens before it.
Because sometimes the best way to improve the big skill is to fix the little movement that comes before it.
