‘Empty Circle’

Another little dot experiment… except this time the dots are absolutely on steroids.

Organic shapes. Loud colours. Random connections. Controlled chaos on a giant white canvas.

And somewhere in all of it… a little mystery.

Where did the missing dot from the empty circle disappear to? 👀

WORKS IN PROGRESS - small paintings for easy transport, to and from the 'Holbrook Art Group'. We meet up every week for two hours of art work and conversation. I have been part of this collection of inspirational individuals for many years now. It is important to have feedback and also the company is so crucial as painting can be very lonely. I am so glad of their support and friendship.

A little up close and personal view:

Inspired by satellite imagery, this piece captures the winding beauty of the mighty Amazon River.

I was instantly drawn to the contrast of the rich burnt oranges against the soft greens, and especially the lime, organic “fishbone” patterns created by agricultural land.

Inspired by satellite imagery, this piece captures the winding beauty of the mighty Amazon River.

I was instantly drawn to the contrast of the rich burnt oranges against the soft greens, and especially the lime, organic “fishbone” patterns created by agricultural land.

Working on a large canvas like this gives a sense of freedom - space to explore detail, movement, and create little zones within the painting that each tell their own story.

The only downside? Moving it 😅
But on the upside… no one’s sneaking this one out the door - it’s staying with me.

First year Visual Arts — eggs were the brief.

I saw hills instead.

A gentle exploration of colour, texture and shadow, painted before I had found my signature style… yet somehow, it still has whispers of it.

Claimed by my son before I even realised - and still hanging proudly on his wall 🤍
