The adventurous life of our favourite feathery-tailed ferret:

16,000 people and counting have met Feathers. 14,676 of those were kids on our 2024 schools tour: classrooms across Tasmania encountering live puppetry, some for the first time, watching a character who learns to celebrate exactly what makes them different.

Schools tours like this one reach kids who might not otherwise see live theatre. If you'd like to help us keep going, we'd love to have you. You can make a donation here: https://bit.ly/terrapin-donate

Goldfish is headed to Darwin Festival!

This work is particularly close to our hearts. After our 2025 international tour, a five-star review in The Age, Green Room Awards for lighting and direction, and a Tasmanian Theatre Award for best new writing - we're so proud to see Goldfish is finding new audiences.

Darwin, we'll see you soon.

Tonight, Matter Era opens at Battersea Arts Centre - BAC in London, marking the start of a UK and European tour.

Part installation, part performance, Matter Era was made in Tasmania in January after two creative developments with UK artist Tim Spooner.

On stage, creatures flock. Objects search without seeing, pulled together by attraction. There's a feeling of empathy in the room.

No two performances will be the same.

Puppetry, but not as you know it.

Matter Era reimagines what’s alive, what’s moving, and what’s possible, a performance where objects take on a life of their own.

We can’t wait to bring this new world to Battersea Arts Centre - BAC in London.

Something we're often asked is, why the name Terrapin?

A terrapin is a type of turtle, carrying its home on its back.

Like the terrapin, we carry our home with us on tour - through story, through people, from schools to the stage. We've been doing it this way since 1981.

You may have seen Rum’un at Gather Round last weekend - but did you know that was built in the Terrapin workshop?

We worked with the to create the now-beloved puppet, seeking advice, feedback and hands-on making from young football fans around Tasmania.

Matter Era is a new international project, developed across three years of creative developments in Hobart and London in collaboration with UK artist Tim Spooner.

Its next phase is a premiere season at the Battersea Arts Centre - BAC, London, before a season at the Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Westflügel Leipzig in Germany.

Part installation, part performance, this shifting landscape animates objects and materials so much so that they feel alive.
