Some people live life in the fast lane—until the road abruptly ends.

For our final cast announcement, we are incredibly excited to announce that rising star Lachie Browne will be playing the reckless, high-flying Anthony Marston in our upcoming production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None!

Lachie might be a relative newcomer to the local scene, but he has quickly proven himself to be an absolute standout talent. Fresh off commanding the Theatre Royal stage as Francois Du Bois in John X Presents’ massive production of &Juliet earlier this year, Lachie has also turned heads in Anything Goes (as Billy Crocker) and The Addams Family (as Uncle Fester). When he’s not stealing the spotlight on stage, he’s hitting the books as a second-year medical student at UTAS!

Anthony Marston is young, wealthy, devastatingly handsome, and completely devoid of a conscience. He treats life as a game, loves fast cars, and lives purely for the next thrill. When he arrives on Soldier Island, he views the strange gathering as just another eccentric party, entirely unaware that his careless past is about to catch up with him in the most shocking way possible.

A soldier’s conscience is the hardest battlefield.

We are incredibly honoured to announce that Helpmann Award nominee and Australian musical theatre star, Colin Dean will be playing the tragic, war-weary General MacKenzie in our upcoming production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

Colin is absolute royalty on both the national and Tasmanian stage. Locally, he has commanded the Theatre Royal in iconic leading roles like Sky Masterson (Guys & Dolls) and Captain von Trapp (The Sound of Music), alongside powerful dramatic turns as Javert (Les Misérables) and Sweeney Todd. Nationally, Colin's spectacular career includes major professional runs in Billy Elliot, the international tour of Jekyll & Hyde, Love Never Dies, Muriel's Wedding, and Once—for which his brilliant performance as Billy earned him a prestigious Helpmann Award nomination. He is also well known locally for his award-winning Settlement Secrets tour at TMAG and serving it up Rat Pack style in the hit show CROON alongside his long-time friend John X!

General MacKenzie is a retired World War I hero who arrives on Soldier Island carrying a heavy heart and a distant mind. As the sinister events of the island unfold, the General finds himself pulling away from the panic of the other guests, resigned to a quiet, somber acceptance of his fate. He is a man trapped in the memories of a decades-old battlefield decision—and he knows that on this island, his past has finally caught up with him.

The perfect house hides the darkest secrets.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the incredible Bil Heit will be stepping into the role of the nervous and terrified Mrs. Rogers in our upcoming production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None!

A drama graduate from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Bil is one of the most versatile and accomplished performers on the Tasmanian stage. John X Presents audiences will know her well from her recent outstanding work in Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night, as well as powerful dramatic turns in Twelve Angry Jurors and Nosferatu. From playing the iconic Lady Bracknell to commanding the arena stage in The Wizard of Oz, Bil brings a masterclass of precision and emotional depth to every single production.

As the cook and housekeeper on Soldier Island, Mrs. Rogers is entirely dedicated to her duties, but she is a woman living on the absolute edge. Haunted by a ghostly conscience and terrified of her own shadow, the eerie atmosphere of the island quickly pushes her to a breaking point. When a mysterious voice accuses the house guests of past crimes, Mrs. Rogers is the first to fracture under the unbearable weight of fear.

You can change your name, but you can’t hide your past.

We are incredibly excited to welcome Tasmanian stage favourite Scott Burns to the cast of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None as the blunt, suspicious ex-police Inspector William Blore.

Scott is an absolute stalwart of the stage with an extraordinary range. Local audiences will know him from major dramatic and musical roles alike—including his powerful turns as Sweeney Todd, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, and Frank in Educating Rita.

But here is a brilliant piece of theatrical trivia: this isn't Scott's first time surviving Soldier Island! Way back in 2002, he starred in a production of this very play as the rogue Philip Lombard. Twenty-four years later, we are thrilled to have him back in the world of Christie, this time stepping into the shoes of the investigator rather than the mercenary.

William Blore arrives on the island under a false alias, hired to look out for the safety of the guests. A practical, hard-headed man of the law, he relies on cold logic and street-smart instincts to solve problems. But when the bodies start dropping, his tough exterior can't stop the creeping paranoia. Can an ex-cop spot a killer when everyone around him looks guilty?

When the mind cracks, who can a doctor heal?

We are thrilled to announce that NIDA graduate and screen veteran Nathan Spencer will be taking on the intensely demanding role of Dr. Armstrong in Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

Nathan brings an incredible pedigree to our stage, having graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) before embarking on a highly successful career across Australian television and film. Audiences will recognise him from prominent roles in acclaimed dark Tasmanian-set screen dramas like Stan's The Gloaming and Foxtel’s The Kettering Incident, as well as his work on ABC’s Noirhouse, Home & Away, and even Paramount's J.A.G. with extensive national theatre credits including the Sydney Theatre Company and the Ensemble Theatre. Local audiences may recognise Nathan from the Old Nick Company’s award winning 2024 production of Flights.

Dr. Armstrong is a highly successful, fashionable London nerve specialist who comes to Soldier Island to take a much-needed rest from his high-pressure practice. He is professional, intelligent, and desperately tries to maintain an air of clinical calm as the nightmare begins to unfold. But beneath his respectable medical title, Armstrong is a man running from a deeply buried tragedy in his operating theatre—and as paranoia spreads, his own nerves threaten to shatter completely.

Having a performer of Nathan’s exceptional dramatic depth and psychological precision in this role is a massive win, and his performance is set to be absolutely riveting.

We are absolutely honoured to announce that international stage veteran Alex Scott Fairley will be playing the tight-lipped, ever-dutiful butler, Mr. Rogers in Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

An Oxford graduate and alumnus of the London School of Musical Theatre, Alex brings a staggering 25 years of professional UK and international experience to our Hobart stage. From London's West End and major UK national tours to performances across Europe, North America, and Asia, Alex’s career spans everything from Shakespeare to Chicago (as Mary Sunshine) and The 39 Steps (as Richard Hannay). Having recently relocated to Tasmania, we are thrilled to welcome his immense calibre of performance to the Theatre Royal.

As the butler of the house, Mr. Rogers is the first to arrive on Soldier Island. He is efficient, meticulous, and dedicated to maintaining the perfect veneer of aristocratic service—even as the world around him begins to violently unravel. But beneath his polished manners lies a dark secret, and as the guests begin to turn on one another, Rogers finds that no amount of proper etiquette can save him from his past.

A man with a gun, a past, and absolutely nothing to lose.

We are incredibly excited to announce that the immensely talented James Colbourn-Keogh is returning home to Hobart to take on the gripping role of Philip Lombard in Agatha Christie's ‘And Then There Were None’.

A graduate of the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), James has been making a serious impact on the mainland stage. Their impressive recent credits include compelling performances in Sainting Joan, Hello Mr Radio, GOSSIP, Jesters Privilege, and a brilliant, high-energy run as the iconic Basil in The Faulty Towers Dining Experience. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome them back to the Theatre Royal stage for this massive production.

Philip Lombard is a resourceful, cynical mercenary who lives by his own set of rules. Brought to Soldier Island under mysterious circumstances, he is the only guest who doesn't pretend to be a saint. Cool under pressure, devastatingly charming, and fiercely pragmatic, Lombard is a survivor—but as the danger closes in, his quick wits and sharp instincts will be pushed to their absolute limit.

The past has a terrible way of washing ashore.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the phenomenal Lucinda Smith will be taking on the pivotal and emotionally charged role of Vera Claythorne in Agatha Christie’s masterpiece, And Then There Were None.

Lucinda is returning to Tasmania after studying at the Western Academy of Performing Arts. Most recently seen in Red Stitch Theatre's The Doll Trilogy, Lucinda has previously appeared as Rosalind in John X Presents Shakespeare in the Gardens production of As You Like It.

Vera Claythorne arrives on Soldier Island expecting a simple summer job as a secretary, eager to leave a tragic chapter of her past behind. Intelligent, resourceful, and determined to survive, she quickly becomes the heart of the mystery as the island turns into a pressure cooker of paranoia. But as the nursery rhyme plays out, Vera finds herself fighting not just for her life, but against the suffocating guilt of a secret she thought she'd buried forever.

Some doors are locked by secrets; others by an iron will.

We are incredibly excited to announce that the wonderfully talented Gabrielle Adkins will be stepping into the formidable, lace-collared shoes of Emily Brent in our upcoming production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

Gabrielle is an absolute powerhouse on the local stage, known for bringing sharp precision, deep character commitment, and immense skill to every role. Gabrielle memorably brought Malvolio to life in our production of Shakespeare's The Twelfth Night at the Botanical Gardens last year.

Emily Brent is a woman of fierce piety, rigid propriety, and absolutely zero tolerance for the moral failings of others. Righteous, cold, and entirely convinced of her own innocence, she sits in judgment of everyone around her on Soldier Island. But as the island’s body count begins to rise, her severe exterior starts to crack. Is her conscience truly as clear as she claims, or does she carry the heaviest burden of all?

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Silver Logie winner and Australian screen favourite, Erik Thomson will be taking on the formidable role of Justice Wargrave in our upcoming production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

While nationwide audiences know and love Erik for his iconic leading roles on major television dramas like Packed to the Rafters, All Saints, and 800 Words, as well as his acclaimed work with the Melbourne and Sydney Theatre Companies, we are incredibly privileged to welcome him to the historic Theatre Royal stage this September.
