🚨 URGENT: LIVE-IN SEA TURTLE VOLUNTEER NEEDED – IMMEDIATE START 🐢
We are urgently looking for a dedicated and hardworking volunteer to join our team at Quoin Island Turtle Rehabilitation Centre.
Unfortunately, a volunteer who was due to commence with us this week withdrew at the very last minute, leaving our small team one person short. As a 24/7 wildlife hospital caring for sick and injured sea turtles, there is no option to simply leave the work undone – the remaining team members have to pick up the workload while we search for someone new.
So, if you have been thinking about volunteering with sea turtles and are available to start immediately, this could be your opportunity!

This is NOT a holiday on a tropical island where you cuddle turtles all day and relax on the beach.
Our volunteers are an essential part of our wildlife rehabilitation team. The work is physically demanding, often dirty, and can be emotionally and mentally challenging. Days revolve around the needs of our patients, not a set 9-to-5 schedule.
Tasks include:
🐢 Feeding, caring for and handling sea turtles
🧹 Scrubbing and vacuuming pools and cleaning ICU tanks multiple times daily
🦐 Preparing large quantities of seafood and collecting seaweed
🏝️ General island and property maintenance
🦘 Caring for our resident Whiptail Wallabies
🔬 Depending on skills and experience, assisting with medical diagnostics and treatments
We are looking for someone who:
• Can start immediately and until 1/12/2026
• Is physically fit and able to lift up to 20kg
• Is genuinely passionate about animals and conservation
• Is reliable, flexible and a strong team player
• Will put the needs of vulnerable wildlife and the team before their own
• Is not afraid of hard work, cleaning, getting dirty or long days
• Is at least 21 years old, independent, mature and drama-free
In return, you will have the opportunity to live and work on beautiful Quoin Island, just off Gladstone in Central Queensland, while contributing directly to the rehabilitation and conservation of endangered sea turtles.
