And of course where would we be without our queen of self-defecating humour, Miss Pussay Poppins?! Pussay is the most true-blue Tasmanian of us all, given that she has two heads, one of them tucked away. She might be a potty-mouthed prima donna and is always leaving her kids in the car but we wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact, over the last few years she has been slaying all our major arts festivals, hosting quiz nights and bingo games and opening up q***r spaces literally all over the state. Triabunna could be her last stop for statewide domination…? And to that we say, all hail!

FREAK
Well we couldn’t have a squid-show without inviting Tassie’s best-known Squid! This stretchy, slimy and strangely sexy sweet-heart of sideshow, has spent the last fifteen years touring the globe with their unique blend of contortion, sword-swallowing, live body piercing, characterisation, and music. At the age of 17, Samora Squid became Australia's youngest sword swallower in history and since then has grown up to be the world's tallest contortionist at an amazing 195 cm in height. That’s right - just like other squids, if the beak fits, Samora can squeeze themselves out of anything… except doing this show!

Having only recently moved to lutruwita/Tasmania, Patrick Spencer has not wasted a minute in taking our performance scene by storm. Whether it’s card handling at corporate gigs, tricking minds at open mic nights or touring regionally with world-class entertainer, Troppo Bob, this Indonesian magician promises to amaze. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see him pull a rabbit out of a hat? Well, we’re hoping that he can at least pull Pussay’s head out of her arse...

Wow-wee, it’s nice to have some funding and be able to fly in internationally-acclaimed performers like Olivia Porter! Single-handedly (and we guess double-handedly too) Olivia incorporates offbeat storytelling, a deadpan comedic persona, unique soccer-inspired manipulation skills, circus and physical theatre to make for a captivating stage presence. The cultured swines among us might have seen her already in (UK) and (AUS) or even at her most recent show at but for us she is making a brand new act, that we know the East Coast will love. We can’t wait!

SQUID
David Ja has recently been a cat. His cat performance has taken his movements to a whole other level. Sometimes he appears as a cat at venues in nipaluna/Hobart, at other times he's not a cat. He's also been in the worst of possible comas, in ICU. In this way he's been a bit like Schrödinger's cat, possibly dead or alive at the same time… but anyway (if you’re still with us) now we’re asking him to be a squid. Let’s see how it goes.

COMEDIAN
With a twenty-year stand-up career under her belt, Chloe Black knows a thing or two about making people laugh. Chloe cut her teeth at the famed Rhino Room in South Australia and went on to perform at the Melbourne International Comedy, Adelaide Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe festivals before relocating to nipaluna/Hobart. She doesn’t just go by “comedian” though. Her other titles include “transwoman”, “vinyl enthusiast”, “former radio broadcaster”, “writer”, “LGBTIQ+ advocate” and “horror movie fangirl”. Well, guess what, Chloe? You’ll be able to add “performed in an absolute Sh*tshow” to your CV now too.

DRAG KING
Flying in hot is Sydney’s most gloriously be-mulleted drag king, Axl Rod. (No doubt he’ll feel right at home amongst our Tasmanian mullets and ironic “shags”.) Axl has performed all over the globe in every role from mechanic to guillotineable aristocrat. He is also the alter ego of award-winning multidisciplinary artist, whose playful work exploring environmental, gender and social themes has been celebrated by the likes of and more. For in trayapanna he will be reprising his merman act and we promise you there won’t be a dry seat left in the house.
