Welcome, Miss Livia 🩷
A versatile dancer, Livia is technically trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, Latin, and salsa. She began her Contemporary dance journey at CAPA at age 13, where her passion for the style quickly developed. She was accepted into multiple company programs, working alongside leading artists from Australasian Dance Collective (ADC) and Merge Dance Collective.
In her final year, Livia completed the International Baccalaureate Dance Program, studying pioneers such as Merce Cunningham, Isadora Duncan, and Martha Graham, and developing a strong technical foundation. She also wrote a thesis exploring the evolution from modern to contemporary dance.
Livia has worked with international Contemporary and Ballet creators from Cuba, America, and Italy, and was a member of N**O Dance Company, founded by Yasim Coronado Veranes. There, she deepened her exploration of Contemporary movement, particularly its Afro-Cuban influences.
Through N**O, she contributed to funded projects with HOTA and Brisbane Multicultural Arts, including video works and the one-hour production Granted, which explored migrant experiences in Australia through a fusion of modern, Afro-Cuban, and contemporary styles.
