As the winds continued to howl through Broken Hill this afternoon, we decided to take Odo for a drive out to Silverton. This historic outback town, famous for its rich mining history and appearances in numerous Australian films, is full of character and charm.

While there, we enjoyed lunch at the Silverton Hotel, a true outback pub with plenty of history, personality.

After lunch, we wandered through the town and visited Justin Cowz's art gallery. We were both really impressed by the quality of the artwork and the thoughtful presentation of the gallery. It's interesting how much more we notice these days, not just the artwork itself, but also how pieces are displayed, hung, lit, and curated within a space. David especially notices these details now, and it's given us a whole new appreciation for gallery presentation as well as the art itself.

It was a lovely afternoon exploring this unique little town and soaking up some creative inspiration. Especially as I wasn't able to relax and paint myself, as I need a sense of calm to paint, and the strong winds made it impossible to find that today.

One of the highlights of my travels this week was visiting the Pro Hart Gallery in Broken Hill. As an artist, it was a real privilege to spend time immersed in the work of someone who made such a significant contribution to Australian art.

Pro Hart had an extraordinary ability to tell stories through paint, capturing the character, colour, and spirit of the Australian outback in a way that was uniquely his own. His bold use of colour, energy, and distinctive style created works that continue to resonate with Australians decades later.

The gallery itself was beautifully curated, allowing visitors to gain a deeper appreciation of both the artist and the man behind the paintings. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and generous, making the experience all the more memorable. We were also delighted by their delicious fruit platter on arrival.

We also enjoyed wandering through the adjacent sculpture gardens, taking time to reflect on the creative journey of an artist who never stopped experimenting, observing, and celebrating the world around him.

Travelling always fills my heart and my mind with fresh inspiration, and today was a wonderful reminder of the power of authenticity in art. Pro Hart painted what he knew, what he loved, and what made him uniquely Australian and that's a lesson every artist can appreciate.

Wow! Due to overwhelming demand, my first two Colourful Koala Workshops have completely sold out!

I'm excited to announce that I am now opening a third workshop on Sunday 19th July at 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

Join me for a fun and creative afternoon as I guide you step-by-step to paint this vibrant and colourful koala. No experience is necessary—just come along, relax, and enjoy creating your own artwork in a friendly and supportive environment.

While we're travelling through some of Australia's beautiful wide-open spaces, I'm soaking up every bit of inspiration that nature has to offer. From stunning landscapes and peaceful country scenes to the incredible wildlife we're encountering along the way, there is creativity everywhere I look.

I've packed my paints and small canvases and am spending time creating new works for my upcoming InStudio Art Trail in August. One of the series I'll be working on is a collection of small bee paintings— beautiful canvases celebrating these essential little creatures.

I'm excited to share these new pieces with you over the coming months.

Such a beautiful morning spent celebrating World Bee Day with my friend Marina.

Lovely conversations, delicious honey treats, and a chance to display some of my bee inspired art as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Megan O'Hara Sullivan and Dr Diana Leemon share their incredible knowledge and passion for honey bees, pollinators, and the important work being done to support our bee's health and longevity.

I’m so excited to share that I’ll once again be part of the InStudio Art Trail this August.

Every weekend in August, artists across the beautiful High Country region will be opening their studios and creative spaces to visitors, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming you into my Studio to share my latest paintings, creative process, and the inspiration behind my work.

The trail runs every weekend throughout August from Crows Nest to Highfields and features an incredible variety of local artists and makers. If you love art, creativity, scenic country drives, and discovering unique handmade treasures, I’d absolutely love for you to visit my little Studio.

We just enjoyed a beautiful four-day retreat exploring the Noosa Everglades with our kayak. I’ve returned home feeling deeply inspired, rested, and creatively recharged.

These photos and little video moments are some of the reference material I gathered along the way for future paintings. The stillness of the waterways, the reflections like glass, the white gums, and the rich tea tree colours were absolutely incredible.

I’m really looking forward to translating some of these beautiful scenes onto canvas and seeing where the inspiration leads.

So grateful for this wonderful retreat, the laughter, the paddling, the surroundings, the board games, and the quiet moments in between. 🌿
