Keke Oriental Dance Oriental Dance classes, Bellydance, Folk dance, Performance group hire for events Keke Oriental Dance is offering dance classes starting from 2017.

Keke has a wealth of over 20 years experience. The base of her (and her trained teachers) style is Egyptian style Raqs Sharqi (Bellydance) but will also teach some modern Turkish and Lebanese movements, crossover with other dance forms and fusion styles. Her classes include dancing with veil, finger cymbals, cane (Assaya) and various folk styles. Keke Oriental Dance classes will teach the basic mo

vements but invites you to mold and transform the dance with your own unique form of expression. She welcomes you to join her classes and experience this wonderful, feminine, expressive artform of Bellydance which is good for your mind, body and spirit. Let's celebrate life with music and dance.

The elegant Keke of Keke Oriental Dance, one of Adelaide’s premier schools of oriental (belly) dance, is another of the stunning performers of One Night in Istanbul featuring. Azad Kaan. Keke has promoted the dance of her Greek Egyptian ancestry in South Australia and internationally over many years by teaching and mentoring students of various levels and by also staging world class shows with prominent guests of the oriental dance world.

Keke’s Workshop - Greek Tsifteteli

Greek tsifteteli and folk steps are intertwined with classical Egyptian technique to create a dynamic choreography to a powerful modern Greek song.

Performer and teacher spotlight: Keke ✨

Keke has been involved with oriental dance for over 25 years. She is of Greek Egyptian descent and grew up listening to the Egyptian classics. She played the piano for many years, learnt Greek folk dance and flamenco before learning raqs sharqi for several years in Adelaide. She then moved to Japan where her dance career flourished after teaching full time, establishing her own school and brand, performing and being exposed to international master teachers. She became known for her musicality and nuances. She had a couple of dance troupes and performed in Egypt for festivals as part of student tours. She has also produced shows, performed and taught workshops in many Japanese cities and Seoul. Keke has also taught in Adelaide and produced events with international and local performers, where she is currently based.

Excited about this event 🤩we have the honour of special guest the beautiful, knowledgeable Eva Cass from Perth teaching and performing amongst other talented artists. I will be exploring the Mediterranean link, Greek tsiftetelli/ folk dance, more to come....

We are excited to finally start revealing what’s in store for you at this year’s first ever Adelaide Middle Eastern Dance Festival which will take place on the 13th and 14th of July!

Two full and very educational days of workshops will be on offer by Adelaide dancers covering different genres of Middle Eastern dance including oriental, Persian classical, Turkish Roman, Egyptian Saidi and more! Workshops will have a focus on technique, choreography, history, culture and numerous other facets of Middle Eastern dance.

Our guest teacher will be the graceful and elegant Eva Cass from Perth who is considered to be one of the pioneers of oriental dance in Australia!

All workshop teachers will perform at our spectacular show Echoes of the East, with their wonderful and varied dances. Accompanying them will be Adelaide musicians Harry Trikaliotis and Kristopher Ioannides, taking us on a journey from Greece to Turkiye, Lebanon to Egypt and beyond.

A pre-festival get together at Istanbul Lounge, will also take place on the evening of Friday the 12th of July where guests can meet with festival teachers, other festival-goers, buy dance costumes and other items have some authentic Middle Eastern nibbles and drinks.

We are looking forward to spending this amazing weekend of Middle Eastern dance and music with you. We will share the details of the show, workshops and Istanbul Bazaar over the next few days. Yallah! Let’s get started.
