Our final Midsumma funded activity showcase is "The Pride In Us" photo project by the incredible Lauren Murphy Photography . Be part of this powerful portrait and storytelling project at our 5th Annual Roller Derby Pride Cup - Gippsland on the 8th November 2025.

Participants are invited to be photographed in front of a rainbow flag and share what Pride means to them. These portraits and reflections will come together to form a vibrant visual tapestry—shared through prints, street art, and digital platforms to paint the streets rainbow in celebration of pride and diversity. You can even craft a flower crown on the day and star in your own portrait!

The Regional Activation Program is part of Victoria's Pride, a state government initiative.

🌈❤️✌️activism matters on every level of government. Loud voice can change laws and loud voice can protect laws. But hate and division is never a strong platform for change.

Removal of a clause that restricted individuals from accessing Council dressing rooms, showers or toilets that did not match their s*x.

This outdated clause contravenes the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 and the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. The specific clause has never had to be enforced by Council’s Local Laws team.

Council officers consented to Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) orders for an updated Local Law to be presented with a recommendation to remove the clause.

Council officers recommended its removal for multiple reasons; the most pertinent being local laws cannot conflict with other legislation, including state and federal laws. The change upholds the rights of all individuals, allowing transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse people to access public toilets with equal and fair protection under the law.
