Watching an episode of Star Trek Voyager. The crew of Voyager discover Amelia Earhart who was abducted by aliens and deposited on a planet in the Delta Quadrant.
If you want an interesting side story to the Earhart disappearance. In Ausfolkus podcasts you can hear the story of Noel Balfour. Noel's father was the last person to see Earhart alive prior to her flying out of New Guinea. Earhart asked Noel's dad to take over the navigation of the flight from her navigator who was quite an unreliable man given over to the 'drink'. Noel's dad declined given that it would be (understandably) a bit too difficult to explain to Noel's mum!
Earhart gifted her revolver to Noel's dad as part of her effort to reduce the weight on the plane. She took off from New Guinea in 1937 and that was that.
If you want to hear the story straight from Noel's mouth go here, scroll down and enjoy your listen. Noel is an absolutely exemplary 94 year old trad country musician. He's coming in to the studio next month to record yet another of his great compositions.

The second and last episode in Noel Balfour's story is up on Ausfolkus Podcasts. This is an amazing tale of the history of music in Australia with many surprises in it to do with music, performance, recording and labels from the 1940's on. All the knowledge in this podcast is based on Noel's personal experience and that of his wife Lorna Barry.

In it you'll hear stories of such greats as Jimmy Little, Billy Thorpe, Brian Henderson and Bandstand, Guy Mitchell, Bill Walker, Val Doonican (remember him?) and many others in the music industry both here and internationally. You will also be treated to a great song written by Noel and Lorna on their way back in a plane from Tamworth music festival.

Be inspired by this story. Go and have a listen and be treated to a great song as a bonus recorded by Noel, Hayden Chee and Chris Saxton just a year or so ago.
