Zen Zen Zo is a Brisbane-based physical theatre company at the forefront of contemporary performance and training in Australia. Founded in 1992, the company has continually produced innovative theatre experiences that have challenged and delighted the audiences. Zen Zen Zo has created over 65 new productions ranging from radical reinterpretations of the classics to innovative self-devised works, m

any of which have been showcased at national and international festivals. Zen Zen Zo’s aesthetic was forged between the ancient Asian dance-theatre traditions, the European avant-garde theatre movement, and contemporary pop culture. This fusion of old and new gives Zen Zen Zo its unique appeal, and an audience base that spans several generations. Currently the company is walking alongside Artistic Director Nicole Reilly as she Remembers her Wiradjuri language and culture, adding depth and bringing First Nations perspectives to their existing practice.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude after last night's Matilda Awards ceremony at QPAC. Blushing took home the Matilda for Best Independent Production!

As Blushing Director and Zen Zen Zo Artistic Director Indiah Morris said in her acceptance speech, independent art takes a village and there are many people to thank for the creation, presentation and continuing life of this production.

Thankyou to the cast of the 2025 Blushing Season - Angela Barnard, Anabella Gregory, Liam Linane, Bryson McGuire, Shanne O'Leary, Mia Sibley, Ebony Webb and Cade Williams.

Thankyou to the original devising team for the IN THE RAW version of the show - ZZZ Company Members: Maisie Crosdale, Gina Tay Limpus, Maxi Mossman, Liam Linane, Wayne Jennings, Shanne O’Leary and Jackson O’Sullivan. Alongside the 2024 Zen Zen Zo Interns: Lauren Rotante, Jack Simpson, Zola Allen, Mira Chorik, Kari Scott Matthew, Mimi Floreani, Mia Sibley, Mags Doherty, Angela Barnard, Cade Williams, Ava Stewart, Ebony Webb, Anabella Gregory.

A 2 hour workshop with Zen Zen Zo, brought to you by On The Fly

Last week’s workshop sold out fast and the response was huge so after plenty of requests, we’re bringing you more.

This session is a hands on introduction to Butoh and its bold, abstract movement language with an added sprinkling of Viewpoints and Suzuki.

For improvisors, this is powerful stuff. This workshop will strengthen physical storytelling, deepen your listening, and help you make strong, grounded choices without rushing to words.
It’s about trusting impulse, being committed, and letting movement lead.

Led by the incredible Zen Zen Zo and presented by On The Fly.

This Sunday 11am to 1pm at Restless Dance Theatre.
Open to improvisors, actors and anyone keen to stretch their physical performance. No experience needed.
