Thinking of getting tattoos on your fingers/hands? Here’s some important information to know before committing to these types of tattoos: (coming from a completely transparent tattoo artist who just wants the best for their clients xx)

Hand and finger tattoos heal differently to the rest of the body; they look great when first done, but fade/heal quickly (especially with fine line designs). This is due to:

- Constant use: Your hands are used for almost everything, leading to constant friction, which breaks down the ink.

- Friction and washing: Frequent hand washing and exposure to soap and chemicals wear away the tattoo ink over time.

- High cell turnover: The skin on the hands and fingers regenerates at a high rate. This rapid turnover causes the ink to shed more quickly than in other areas.

- Thin skin: The skin on fingers is thinner, which means the ink is placed more shallowly and is more susceptible to fading.

Hand and finger tattoos heal differently for each client, and may require multiple touchups and ongoing maintenance. I always ensure that my clients understand the inconsistencies in hand/finger tattoos and I definitely recommend having a little think before booking in for something like this xx
