💬 Artist Talk - Bronwyn Davies

Take this unique and free opportunity to hear from Bronwyn Davies, one of the Gallery's special guest judges for the Du Rietz Art Awards 2026, about her own career.

✏ Tracing Australia: The stories that shape an artwork
Through stories, sketchbooks, maps and finished works, Bronwyn will explore how observation, travel, research and lived experience evolve into a sustained body of work.

The talk offers an insight into developing an authentic arts practice, from first idea to finished exhibition.

About Bronwyn
Bronwyn creates artworks that emerge from long periods of walking, researching and observing Australia's landscapes. Combining painting, drawing, vintage maps and stitching, her practice explores stories of place, migration and belonging. She has worked in the arts for more than thirty years as both artist and cultural practitioner.

In Memory of Liam Mac Cormaic

The staff and volunteers at Gympie Regional Gallery are saddened to share the recent passing of Liam Mac Cormaic in early August.

Liam was a dedicated Gallery community member, having held the role of Treasurer for the Friends of the Gallery for over 4 years and Gallery volunteer for over 14 years. Since stepping back from formal volunteering in 2020, Liam has been a familiar, friendly face who visited the Gallery almost daily over the last five years. His generosity, kindness, and commitment to our Gallery community touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed.

Please join us at Surface Hill Café for a coffee to remember Liam.

This informal gathering is an opportunity for friends, volunteers, staff, and community members to come together, share memories, and honour Liam's lasting legacy.

For those that are interested, please join Gallery staff in a walk to honour him, tracing Liam's regular walking path back to the Gallery at 10am.

📍 Surface Hill Café, 14 Channon St, Gympie
Tuesday 8 September, 9am - 10am
We welcome everyone who knew Liam to join us in celebrating his life and the many friendships he made at the Gallery and throughout the Gympie community.
