When guest’s see their own names hand lettered & written on a place card their faces light up & then the fun begins.
The larking about starts along with the dancing.
I often wish to be viewing such moments when they realise each one is written in calligraphy beautifully. And the flourishing is NOT by AI or a digital print machine.
At times they run their finger tips across it just to feel the real texture.
Mostly tho, it goes home in a pocket or a handbag for the best memory of the event.

I had an international model a few years ago who wouldn’t let me use her photo of larking about with her name card- so, it’s nice to actually see the effect at this lovely wedding I was so grateful to be invited to.

Like a jewel from the ocean or a seashell rolling with the waves- these marks made represent the movement. The grace of motion which I try to capture then convey that to you.
The secret on what tool I used will remain with me & all I can say is; that I didn’t find it on the bottom of the ocean.
An artist has to keep some techniques to herself as we search for going outside the boundaries of what we have been taught.
In Fine Art we were pushed to think outside the frame of art, to use our imagination & produce what we adored designing. Following our niche. And mainly learning the basics and redoing work again if it wasn’t good enough.
The days when we had standards, skill & great tutors who taught us well and wouldn’t let us produce art that was less than ok.
I’m so grateful for those vigilant teachers , the ones who cared & taught me about design, perspective, drawing, painting , form, space & shape.
You often hear me bang on about shape because with every movement, every stroke it is definitely a line or mark I consider greatly.
And always will be my part of my signature in my artworks.

This petite blue reminds me of that first gasp …

How much do you love the ocean? And have you drifted through the Rottnest waters, dived through a fresh wave or jumped off a boat into the deep? That first gasp that hits your body as you feel the cool splash entice you further.

Or that time when you’re simply drifting on cool breezes.

Capturing the feeling of calm turquoise waters, drifting, ch*****ne in hand as you read a book, nibble the cheese & watch the ocean blue charm you.
That’s exactly what this little poetic jewel of the sea remarks.
Needs framing, gift solved for that dear one who loves nothing better than being in our Cottesloe waters- idling about.
