We want to take a moment to celebrate Karlys Kustom Art latest work, and look back and appreciate her journey into larger scale murals.

Karly showed up at our first Banna Lane Festival and volunteered to help a visiting Graffiti artist to paint some electrical boxes.

Since then, Karly always volunteered to help where she could, when an artist may have fallen behind due to wet weather or just needed an extra set of hands Karly would put her hand up to help.

In 2024, we called Karly up to take on the wall at the back of Solar Mad Stadium as a part of our Her Way collaboration. It was a perfect fit for her as she got to transform a dull concrete wall into a gorgeous piece of art without having to worry about having a scissor lift licence

Fast forward to this year, seeing Karly's beaming smile on top of a scissor lift, painting a brick wall, which is not an easy surface to paint with all the deep grout lines, it just makes us so happy to see her be able to share her artwork at such a larger scale for more people to appreciate.

Adopting new technology as well also shows great initiative, for what is sure to be a game changer for the artist community when it comes to the labour intensive task of marking out their walls.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this project happen and special shout out to her supporters. Karly's network is one of her greatest assets, and I'm sure the envy of many other artists who usually have to brave walls alone.

Finally, a shout out to all our locally based festival artists whose talent and passion have and continue to contribute significantly to our festival and the local public art landscape. We are so lucky to have you all.

Two weeks ago we put this unique event of ours on, and it was no easy feat but we are super proud of the outcome.

We would like to take the time now to acknowledge the very large list of companies and people who contributed to making our 2024 festival and event happen.

SUPPORTERS: Create NSW Foundation Regional Festival funding for our award-winning event, Lighting up the Lane.

SPONSORS: Griffith City Council thank you for supporting us with activating the event space this year, and congratulations on all the hard work you have done in improving our CBD through Her Way program this year.

Emerge Creative Agency for the time put into applying for funding and it not always working out, through to all the paperwork and compliance it requires to do an event. The on-going planning, organising and management of the festival and event from start to end.

Quest Griffith for supporting our artists with quality accommodation

Liftek Australia for supplying quality equipment to do them big walls!

Dobija Creative Co for the supply of our 2024 posters and murals maps plus assisting us with our youth project installation. We also love our neon sign you created for us.

Kennards Hire Griffith Branch for supplying us with equipment from fencing and generators through to toilets, these are the essential items all events need.

To all our amazing artists, past and present, your work has and continues to transform our city in such a positive way. We are also encouraged and inspired to see the emerging talent coming from our youth projects.

Paint materials, equipment, and advice from Inspirations Paint Griffith always is a great help each year as is our partnership with MTN Australia for a great range of quality spray cans for our artists

Also to the businesses that either allow us access to your site, help us clean/clear the area of bins, manage rubbish and overgrowth for the event; allow attendees to get up close and take photos; and much more. The lane was looking good.

Residents and business owners that manage the disruption to their access to their buildings for this event, thank you for being supportive and respectful to our team. We know that it's not always easy on you and are grateful for how selfless you are in putting your needs aside for one night for the benefit of others.

To everyone who braved the cold winter night and enjoyed the event regardless of the awful weather, thank you. We hope you had a great time.

Great to see murals by Reuben Boughtwood - Artist Jordan Lucky and Styna featured

We were thrilled to support the Her Way project this year. Griffith City Council were successful in obtaining funding from Transport NSW for the Safer Cities program and not only added public artwork but updated a lot of infrastructure in the CBD such as bridges, lighting, footpaths, bus shelters, and a new community park
