No Mud, No Lotus takes its title from Thích Nhất Hạnh’s book of the same name, a teaching that reminds us that suffering and beauty are inseparable and that growth emerges through what we endure. In this painting, I depict myself alongside my sisters, our intertwined roots shaped by migration, resilience and quiet, inherited strength. Through this work, I reflect on how identity is formed within family and how, like the lotus, we continue to rise, carrying both the mud and the bloom. 🪷

Il canto delle api (The Song of the Bees) for the Primavera Community Exhibition at Artspace

Il canto delle api celebrates the gentle hum and harmony of nature in springtime. As a backyard beekeeper and gardener, I’m always inspired by the quiet rhythm of the bees as they move from flower to flower, creating a melody of movement, colour, and life. This painting captures that sense of joyful energy, the buzzing symphony that fills the garden when everything is in bloom. It’s a reminder of how the smallest creatures play such an important role in the beauty and balance of the world around us 🐝

Welcoming Our New Public Programs Officer

Isis is no stranger to GRAG, having already made a wonderful contribution through her outstanding work running our youth programs, including Mastering the Art of Painting and SmARTy Kids. She brings a wealth of creative expertise to the role, from founding Tambourine Art Studio, to contributing to numerous public artworks in Griffith and the surrounding areas, delivering countless workshops for both adults and young people, and drawing on years of experience in graphic design and marketing.

We’re thrilled to officially welcome Isis to the team, and we can’t wait to see the exciting programs she has planned for our community.
