Greenbushes Acoustic is a mental health support group with an acoustic music focus in Greenbushes. The main aim is to bring people together to play, sing and listen to live acoustic music, build relationships and community, as well as skills. The inclusive Support Group is open to people of all ages, skills, and abilities. We provide a creative and mutual learning space to foster mental health mai
ntenance and recovery. Greenbushes Acoustic started as Greenbushes Folk Club in September 2020 for an acoustic music picnic that has become a monthly event, now held regularly on the third Sunday of each month. From March 2021 the club changed its name to Greenbushes Acoustic. During the summer months the Folk Club meets for a picnic event in Thomson Park in Greenbushes. Other venues include the Greenbushes RSL Club and the Historic Cricket Clubhouse near the free camp area north of town. Usually an band starts off the event, performing mainly original songs. This is followed by an Open Mic Session where performers share up to two songs, preferably originals. Performers sing and play through a condenser mic which is connected to a small amplifier. It is suitable for all acoustic instruments, and big and small groups alike. Greenbushes Acoustic concludes with an All Star Band performance where musicians sing and play a few Folk and Bluegrass Classics together. Regularly the All Star Band is made up of about 12 musicians. Please bring your own picnic and chairs, as well as your family, friends and neighbours. Your donation is welcome.
