How I Long for the Bush
How I would love, right now, to be in the bush—
where silence speaks in birdsong,
and the wind writes poetry in the leaves.
To sit with my back against the trunk of an old tree,
its bark rough with wisdom,
its roots deep in the stories of the earth.
The world slows here.
Thoughts soften.
The breath finds its rhythm again.
No noise, no rush—
just the rustle of branches,
a distant call of a magpie,
and the warm stillness of sun-dappled ground.
Let me sink into the soil,
feel the pulse of the land beneath me,
and remember:
I belong to this quiet,
this wild, this peace. #

A touch of brightness, a playful spirit—glimpses of places that linger in the heart. Berowra, cradled by the water’s edge, felt like a dream painted in colour. The shimmer of blue beneath the sky, tiny homes tucked into the hills, and trees that danced with splashes of gold and green—it was beauty quietly unfolding. I have been very lost with where my art is headed, overthinking everything and spending to much time criticising myself instead of painting. So I went back to basics, what do I enjoy painting? Well that’s easy buildings and houses, right? Why do I paint? I paint to feel happy and free and to leave the world behind. A little sneak peek today into the interior features of our home design. We went a little bold and had fun with it—bringing in nature, lively neutrals, and organic textures. From textured concrete to natural lines, every element reflects upon our personalities. Eclectic furniture and VJ paneling will pay homage to my passion for old homes and their timeless features. There certainly is a buzz of excitement in our house to see how it all comes together and a pang of anxiety just for me as I hope it looks cohesive. A huge shoutout to .and.stone.co for our amazing textured stones basins that arrived and are going to be such an amazing feature of our bathrooms!

It’s been a meaningful and emotional process with building our new home. The journey of creating a new space while reflecting on the memories of the old one is powerful. Home truly is more than just walls; it’s where the essence of family is captured, where each corner holds a piece of what makes you, you. With all this in mind I have found it a rewarding experience to see my ideas and design come together. I planned in a sketchbook and took time to reflect on our family and what each person brings to our home, making sure I capture a little bit of everyone. I know this isn’t art but it is design so I thought I would share our journey in creating our new home with you all.

She’s finished and isn’t she magical. I feel I just need to grab a picnic basket, walk through the wildflower filled paddock and find a shady spot under a tree. To sit there and watch the shadows change over her facade and listen to the sway of the grasses in the breeze. Wouldn’t that be bliss.
