My tiny fish shed is only 7*4 m so every inch of space is precious. I am currently contemplating the next rack, and if it even happens.

When I first built the shed I had designed it so I had 4 rows of tanks 60cm wide one on each long wall and a back to back rack down the middle giving only 70ish cm of isle way between them. It felt way crowded, watching, and photographing fish was near impossible and space to do any work was absent. I hated it so much. So I removed the middle isle and made the monster stand on one side 3 tiers.

Now I am revisiting the idea just smaller narrower. A single rack to hold four 4*2"18h tanks. The 140cm gap should provide adequate space for working and viewing. With a 70cm gap at each end. (I am skinny lol)

More tanks, and less open area.. 🤔

The plywood on the floor (not final position) is 2400*60cm as an idea.

So a few months ago I was lucky enough to be entrusted to buy, two amazing colonies of Tropheus. Their trip across the country wasn't the best for them and they arrived a bit stressed, not eating, and skittish. So they have been in holding tanks for a bit. This week I managed to get them into their bigger forever tanks.

Colony one is a group of Golden Kalambo possibly the biggest tropheus I have ever seen, most 15-18 cm. One of the dominant males is starting to show OB traits white lips, yellow fin edges. These are now in a 7*19*20 tank.

The second group is Red bellies. This colony really surprised me, at first I was not to excited about them but in person they are absolute stunners, The colours and pattern on most of the fish esp the few Dom males is amazing! These are now in a 6*18*18.

Still settling in and still a bit skittish, but eating and spawning so can't be too bad.

Thank you for trusting me with your babies!

X.Papilo Tembwe II fry
Looks like 15-20 cruising around from maybe 3different spawns... Looks like each batch is having more surviving..

I Will be keeping the first 30 ish fry to establish new breeding groups. Maybe mid next year all going well I will have fry available.

In Australia the land of super restricted imports, Xenotilapia are no longer allowed to be imported so what we have here is precious. My aim has always been to breed up and re-establish species for future generations.
