50 years after it was written I finally get to direct the play that inspired me to become involved in theatre, Alan Ayckbourn's perfect mix of comedy and drama 'TABLE MANNERS' from the NORMAN CONQUESTS trilogy. I've been lucky to be blessed with 6 gifted actors who have been working together to present this classic example of ensemble theatre. The 4 week season opens this Wednesday night (9th Aug) at Pymble Players. Many nights are already sold out but there are still some good tickets left on various dates. If the season completely sells out and there is still demand they have the opportunity to open a reserve night in the final week on Thursday the 31st of August. The best seats are in rows D, E, F & G so grab spots there if you intend to book. Follow this link to the Pymble Players website https://aupymbleplayers.sales.ticketsearch.com/.../78288
If you make it, ,come up and say hello after the show.

We are pleased to announce that GTC will be entering a one-act play into Wyong Drama Group's Celebration of Coast Theatre Festival on the first weekend (3,4,5) of June 2022 at the Red Tree Theatre, Tuggerah.

'The Truth About Camping' by Gavin Critchley is a 30min comedy about a young family's camping trip where no-one wants to be there, except mum, who is determined that everyone is going to have FUN!

NOTE:
In March 2020 the play was fully cast and ready to begin rehearsing until the pandemic shut theatre down on the Central Coast and just about everywhere else. Only one member of that original cast (the Dad) is still available to perform in the play so we will NOT be auditioning for that part this time. However, the 4 other roles are available for anyone to try out for.

REMAINING CHARACTERS:
Elaine (mum) - mid 40s
Nancy (gran) - mid 70s
Kim (daughter) - mid teens
Joshua (son) - early teens

AUDITIONS are scheduled for SUNDAY 27th March 2022 from 12pm to 3pm in Gosford.

Along with interested actors we would also like to hear from those of you who enquired about working in the production side of theatre. Along with a cast we are also looking for someone who wants to have a go at the role of PRODUCTION ASSISTANT. This involves working with the director in all aspects of producing the show with tasks such as prompt, props, set design, cast liaison etc.

Please reply to [email protected] with your interest and you will be forwarded a script and associated material

After a wonderful two week season of Noosa Arts Theatre's 44th Annual ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL, final performances and awards were held on Saturday 29th of May.
We are pleased to announce that Gavin Critchley's entry 'THE TRUTH ABOUT CAMPING' was awarded the 2ND PRIZE in the competition. Also TOM MIDDELTON who played the father in 'Camping' was presented with the BEST ACTOR award.
The director and cast did a wonderful job of bringing 'Camping' to life for its inaugural performance and the audiences responded warmly.
Along with $2K prize money, MAVERICK MUSICALS AND PLAYS have approached Gavin with an offer to publish 'THE TRUTH ABOUT CAMPING' on the international market.
All in all it was a wonderful experience with Noosa Arts Theatre personnel making us feel extremely welcome and inviting us to enter the competition again in 2022.

Hello everyone,

Here is some info about a CASTING for a SEAFOOD INDUSTRY TV COMMERCIAL. The info was sent to me on Wed 30th Sept with a 3pm Thurs 1st Oct deadline. Unfortunately this is the first time that I've had a chance to look at it, although the sender has asked me to not to be concerned about the deadline and put a notification up anyway. It sounds like they're after a 'host' type character to interview everyday locals as part of the ad but you'll have to talk to the host who I can supply the details for.

Here is what they're looking for:

Male / Principal / Caucasian / 30 - 45
NON CELEBRITY VERSION HAMISH BLAKE WHO IS LIKEABLE AND FUNNY AND EVERYONE WARMS TO HIM. GOOD GUY!!
Someone who has lived and learnt and knows a thing or two – but also who doesn’t have to try too hard to bring us along for the ride and into their way of seeing things. Authentic and true, so the audience engages with them and appreciates their conviction.
Their role is to observe and engage, as opposed to making a political point or somehow using their influence. It’s all about natural-born charm. Conveying the joy of natural-born Aussie simplicity.

They will be requiring a self recorded video for the audition. If you're interested, write to me (Gavin) at [email protected]. and I can send you all the details and a contact number. I don't know what their new deadline is but I assume time is of the essence so write soon. Good luck.
Gavin

A heartfelt thanks to all those people who came along and supported these four amazing individuals in Gosford Theatre Company's season of EXTREMITIES. Here are some comments: .........................................................................

-Saw Gosford Theatre Company's production of 'Extremities' today. Very powerful theatre. Samantha Winsor - you were amaaazing! Great work! Staggeringly good .............................

-so go and see it to encourage more challenging productions like this. Samantha Winsor, Daniel Asher Smith, Aimee Honor (in only her second play ever) & Sierra Phillips give gritty, powerful performances ..........................................................

-We were all amazed at the talent of those young actors.......

-an outstanding cast and crew..................................................

-disturbingly real and extremely thought provoking...................

-Daniel Asher Smith, Aimee Honor-Eltham, Samantha Winsor, and Sierra Phillips performed so well together, great chemistry amongst the cast. .....................................................................

-An absorbing play that was of professional standard, wonderful characterisations, timing and blocking. The set was very practical, casting was absolutely spot on - the 4 actors each delivered believable performances which I found engrossing. ............................................................................

As a director I was so proud of this cast who went beyond all expectations to breathe life into these brave but tragic characters and create a truly professional performance - not forgetting the relentless contributions of production manager Anna-Louise Barrie and stage manager extrordinairre Patrice Horne - Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!
- Gavin Critchley

QUOTES FROM THIS EPISODE OF THE GROUNDBREAKING ABC SERIES:

"....you just want to survive.... you'll do anything to live"

"....my mum was really nervous about me being on the show... she didn't want me speaking out in case certain people saw it... but that's part of the problem"

"...so you have a choice, you can believe and reform the society we live in or you can empower the perpetrators by choosing not to believe"

After last weeks performances of 'EXTREMITIES' audiences were engaged in discussions about these issues but were also blown away by the power of the performance they had just seen.

Part of GOSFORD THEATRE COMPANY's mandate is to promote the idea that good theatre entertains as well as informs. This production does both eloquently as well as being some of the best performances you will ever see.

Last three shows at the HUB Erina - Friday 20th and Saturday 21st - Get your tickets NOW at trybooking.com (search for events - EXTREMITIES)

Women and men tell their deeply personal stories of sexual assault, sharing what happened, how people reacted, whether they got justice and what they did to recover. These are voices and insights you won't hear anywhere else.

Gosford Theatre Company's 'Extremities' opened on Friday 13th July at the Hub Erina to an enthusiastic reception from Central Coast audiences. People also came from Newcastle and Sydney to see this amazing performance by 4 exceptional actors. Here are some pics and comments by Sydney based audience member DJ Maynard.................................................. "I recommend the production of Extremities that opened last night from Gosford Theatre Company . It is, at times, a very harrowing play about sexual assault and the resulting justice, if any. It’s also not the type of play you might expect to see on the Central Coast, so go and see it to encourage more challenging productions like this. Samantha Winsor, Daniel Asher Smith, Aimee Honor (in only her second play ever) & Sierra Phillips give a gritty, powerful performance that can be dark to watch at times. But the subject matter, written in 1982 by William Mastrosimone, is as relevant as ever." Till 21st July bookings: http://gosfordtheatre.com.au
