Our race day simply can’t happen without people who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.

To our FOF judges for travelling out to be part of our day.
To the food vendors, bar staff, racing staff, security, paramedics and everyone who worked during the day and night.
To those that helped with the setup the pack down after – a huge job in itself.
And to our committee – made up entirely of volunteers.
We did it, team.
Another stellar effort from all involved.
We’re going to take a well-earned break from our socials for a while.
It’s been a HUGE year, but as a Committee, we're pretty bloody proud of the show we put on – and we can’t wait to see all of you back again next year for another ripper event!

Just over here reminiscing about Saturday...
Thanks to the very talented Melissa Carrigan Photography for capturing our day so perfectly!
When you arrive on Saturday – everything is setup and ready to go.
The food is on.
The bars are stocked.
The Fashions on the Field is on point.
The drinks are flowing.
The horses are racing.
The music is playing.
But it doesn’t just happen.
The planning and preparation that goes into making our event is, well, big.
We may be a little biased, but we think our committee is made up of a bunch of absolute legends.
We've been working on this event for months.
We all volunteer our time.
We travel for meetings.
Call in favours for hiring/borrowing equipment.
Put our hand up for the different roles that have to be done.
And quite frankly, just get it done.
Then we spend days in the lead up [with some awesome helpers] coordinating deliveries, stringing lights, setting up tables, chairs, stages, photo walls, entrances, toilets as well as popping up tents, creating bars, coordinating food trucks and decorating the venue. The list goes on.
Every year we strive to take out event to the next level.
And this year?
We're pretty proud of the day we put on.
We hope you enjoyed it!

Apparently "the vibe is off" isn't a valid excuse to call it a week and take Thursday and Friday off...
Needless to say, we disagree.
Can it just be Saturday already?
This year, we're back doing our bit to minimise our impact on the environment where we can.
We're bringing back our reusable glasses for all wine and champagne purchases.
$5 will get you a glass (and you can take it home after the event)
So essentially:
Attend races.
Drink wine / champagne - or whatever you choose (responsibly obviously).
Help the environment.
How are you getting to and from the races?
Our FREE courtesy busses will be running again this year.
You literally get dropped at the front gate.

ON THE DAY > GETTING THERE
Racing Queensland (RQ) has launched "Fashions from afar" for country racegoers off the track for the third consecutive year. And this year, we're taking part in it.
RQ's Fashion from afar competition will celebrate the age-old tradition of trackside style and celebrate modern millinery trends and head-to-toe style dressing and grooming.
Fashions from afar will run in conjunction with Battle of the Bush qualifiers around Queensland, with winners offered the opportunity to compete in the final in Brisbane on Tattersall's Tiara Day, Saturday, June 24 2023.
The competition will be inclusive of male and female categories.
By taking part in our Fashions on the Field event on the 15th, you have an opportunity to win an extra $500 on race day, plus go in running to take home the prize of $2,500 in the Brisbane final.

People want coffee and tea options available on race day.
So the team from Shot 2 U will be serving these, along with other awesome food trackside on the 15th.
“I’ve been scammed”.
We are being inundated with messages from people being scammed for race day tickets.
Our committee is frustrated this is occurring – and that is an understatement.
We’re sorry this is happening.
Unfortunately, it seems to be a regular occurrence each year…
All we can suggest is that wherever possible, you purchase tickets from someone you know, or via a mutual contact.
Trust. Your. Gut.
If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
If the conversation feels off or you just aren’t sure, don’t commit.
Some of the fakes we have seen look so close to being legit, it’s scary.
Others, well, you could pick them a mile off (think wrong date/time etc.).
If you are trying to purchase via a secondary method (i.e. you didn’t purchase via the ticketing platform), here are some key details to look for:

The ticket type should state: General Admission | ADULT 18+
The original price was $35+GST
There is no name change fee when you make a purchase
Remember, each ticket will only be able to be scanned once at the gate (so you don’t need to change the name on the tickets for entry).

Well well well.
The big question on everyone's lips seems to be when we will be releasing another round of tickets.
Look, we're not going to beat around the bush here.
Unfortunately, we're not.
We've capped our numbers (as we have done in previous years) to ensure our race day can be enjoyed by all who are trackside. And this year we think we've got the capacity juuuuust right.
But, we hear you (i.e. our socials inboxes have been blowing up with requests for tickets).
Seems there are a lot of you who are experiencing a serious case of FOMO and want in – we don't blame you.
So, we're opening up our Event page discussion board so our community have a space to buy and sell tickets (from those who and acquired them early).
A word of advice. Be aware of scammers.
We often have issues with them closer to race day *sigh*.
Here are some things to keep in mind if you're buying:

Toowoomba based, Ambassador and Face of Weetwood Race Day Toowoomba, 2022 and owner of boutique homewares “La Coco and Co”. Brooke is highly experienced in the fashion and racing industry with a very long family history tracking back to her Great Grandfather, Grandfather and Father being a prominent horse trainers and owners. Competing national and at royal level in showing and show jumping, Brooke has great passion and appreciation for Fashions on the Field and the unique creations, designs and attention to detail that are required for Fashions on the Field.
Andy Baker
Working alongside Gordon Ramsay, IMG Swimwear and Australia’s Greatest Athlete, Andy understands the importance of attention to detail, expectations and the importance of capturing every moment in life. Moving into fashion retail, opening and managing stores for the likes of Hugo Boss and Peter Jackson. Currently at Peter Jackson since opening 6years ago, a family owned business, Andy has always carried with him that when styling someone, it is important to pay attention to the little details but capturing the moment when you are styled and dressed up is just as important.‘
Georgina Fernie
Described as a country racing enthusiast who has competed in and judged too many Fashion on the Field competitions over last decade. Georgina is a passionate proponent of fashion with a creative pursuit which is what led her to sharing the inspiration and work that go into her handmade outfits on Instagram.

This update? It’s important – so read on friends. We’ve been watching everything happening in Brisbane VERY closely. The good news: our Picnic Race Day is still going ahead [yay]! 👏 The other news: we’ve had to make a few changes to ensure we can meet the new requirements set by the Queensland Government. So here is what you need to know: Entry: You will still need to check in using the Check in QLD App – easy as. You can do this in the line before you reach the front gate. 🤳 If you’re currently waiting on a COVID test result, unfortunately we won’t be able to let you through our gates 🛑. This is to keep our racegoers and community safe. If this applies to you, reach out to us so we can walk you through the next steps. Masks: You will need a mask to attend our event. 😷 You will need to show you have one on you when you enter the venue [as per the QLD COVID mandate currently in place]. It’s as simple as – no mask, no entry. When within the venue? You need to use your judgement and put the mask on when you are not able to social distance ↔️. We’ll have signs up to remind you. There will be some areas within the venue that are classed as *inside areas* [i.e. our top bar and toilet facilities]. In those areas, masks will be mandatory. Again, follow the signage instructions we’ll have up 😷 Things we can do: 🥂Eat and drink while standing up [when outside]. 🕺Dance [while practicing social distancing]. 💰Put a bet on #responsiblyofcourse 🐎Watch the horses. 👗Fashions on the Field. The best way to get to the races? It’s on the bus. We love this option for two reasons. 1] It’s FREE 2] No reverse parking required This year, our buses are running on a circuit with set stops to try and keep them on time and as efficiently as possible. So check out the schedule on our website – and find your nearest stop!
COVID times mean single use plastic cups are back. We LOVED our green theme in 2019, but this year we need to take a different tact. We’ll have plenty of bins around the place, so please dispose of your cups thoughtfully when you’re done!
