Today 1-5pm!
SUNDAY BASEQ Blues Jam 30th August , 1pm- 5pm Royal Mail Goodna
Host band is Leah and the Bad Choices. Leah and her band mates, Dave McGuire, Helen Russell and Coojee Timms , perform brilliant blues, rock, and folk songs that are full of spirit and groove. The Bad Choices throw themselves into their work, drawing on influences from early womenโs blues, crackling 50s and 60s R&B, the jazz end of soul, classic pop, and the finest singer-songwriters. Expect to hear songs from Koko Taylor and Jimmy Reed, Ray Charles and Dinah Washington, Al Green, Etta James and Esther Phillips, Warren Zevon, Bonnie Raitt and John Prine - among other best-loved classics.
The featured band this month, playing four songs after the host bans first set, is the Delta Alley Blues Band with some foot stomping , up beat blues and RnB. One established band spot is normally available. This spot is designed to give new bands an opportunity to play together in front of an audience. To avoid disappointment, it is best to prebook the band spot with the President. The band spot is 20 minutes.
Musicians and bands please note that the event is a Blues Jam rather than an open mic.
Musicians / Vocalists can register with the MC from 12.30pm and the MC will put 6 or 7 bands together from the musicians that have registered. Each set of musicians get a 15-minute slot. The Jam is tailored to individuals rather than bands that want to play a short set. If you arrive and register by 1pm I can almost guarantee you will get to play, unless you are drummer number 8. But then there is always next month, so if you want to get up and Jam come early, put you name down with the President and enjoy watching the other performers.
Backline and drum kit supplied.
Host band kick off at 1 pm for their first set, so be early and grab a seat, a drink or two from the bar and a bite to eat from the kitchen.
Jammers start at 1.50pm. The Host band, will finish off the day with another set from around 4:15 to 5pm
