Comedy Gold turns 1 today.

A year ago, we ran a fundraiser for Gilston Primary School’s adventure playground with 3 heavy-hitting comedians & raised thousands for their community. That night we fell in love with supporting Gold Coast causes through Gold Coast comedy — and wondered where were the next generation of GC comics? So, we started paving a yellow brick road.

We launched the 'Learn Stand Up with Dave Eastgate' workshops in our Burleigh Heads creative studio & in our first 12 months over 50 students have completed the course. We hosted improvisation workshops & masterclasses with Blah Blah Blah Improv and our fresh faces were ready for audiences.

We partnered with Affinity Bar Burleigh to give the GC next gen a weekly comedy training gym, and with the velvet SEQ comedy community heavyweights backing us, we grew into curated showcases blending A-list comics with brand-new super talents.

Across the year we brought over 50 shows to the Coast — Carafe Wine chaos, Miami Marketta mayhem, Iron & Resin Currumbin carnage — 3 incredible venues that back creatives & let us pack their rooms monthly. We’ve also hosted community fundraisers for SEQ schools & clubs, with highlights of — the Southport High auditorium upgrades & Southport Cricket Club Juniors.

We now book 70 comedians per month & we’ll keep growing that number in 2026.
Our ethos stays the same: Gold Coast comedy by Gold Coast comedians for the Gold Coast community — all ages, all abilities, all identities, all nationalities, all laughs.
