Did we get scammed with a fake charity event?

I have spent my already busy week gearing up for a "charity event" which was supposed to be tomorrow night. Spending hours chatting, getting things ready, buying new equipment, getting it test and tagged, working things out SPECIFICALLY for them and offering our services for FREE only to figure out the day prior to the event that it was all one big scam 🤦🏽‍♂️

The sophistication and persistence is next level. We have messaged every day back and forth since Monday about the event.

Everything checks out until it doesn't. If something feels off, it usually is. These people don't care about you, your business, or anyone but themselves. I've covered all personal details as they have used real business names, addresses, phone numbers etc, that don't belong to them

P,s. I didn't actually scan the code or give any details. The QR codes only got sent today. I realised earlier today that it was all scam, so I decided to play around with them once I figured it all out. I can definitely see how people do fall for it though.
