Blue-billed White Terns (formerly known as just the White Tern) feed their chicks whole fish, they do not regurgitate. They don’t build a nest, instead laying a single egg on a tree branch (usually on a Norfolk Pine). The chick has sharp claws allowing it to cling firmly on the branch.
Locals on Norfolk Island nickname the bird “one good tern deserves another”.
….. it’s a pun on the saying “one good turn deserves another” in regards to kindness and reciprocity.
Locals see the bird as a “good tern”.

Aussie Bird Nuts at Elanora Wetland, Gold Coast QLD on the 24th August, 2025.
Another successful outing seeing as many as 56 species of birds including; Leaden Flycatcher, Pacific Baza, Buff-banded Rail, Sacred Kingfisher, Eastern Yellow Robin, and Spangled Drongo.

20th August, 2025 - Wonga Pigeon in Uki (NSW) walking around in the rain. Although it is a quiet road, the bird didn’t seem too concerned about the cars driving past.
