🏺 LEARN TO MAKE YOUR OWN PLASTER MOULD FOR CERAMICS

Ever wished you could make multiples of your favourite ceramic forms? Join ceramicist and printmaker Simon Suckling for a hands-on, one-day workshop exploring the fundamentals of plaster mould making for ceramics.

You’ll learn how to make your own one-piece plaster mould, suitable for creating multiples of a small cup or bowl using slip casting.

✨ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
• How to make a simple one-piece plaster mould
• Finishing and trimming your mould
• The basics of slip casting
• Understanding undercuts and mould limitations
• Planning and preparing forms for casting
• Measuring and calculating plaster quantities
• Mixing plaster safely and accurately

And best of all, you’ll make your own small plaster mould to take home!

🎉 Lucky Draw This Saturday! 🎟️

For all our members and anyone visiting our Post Office Gallery this Saturday 22nd Ausgust, we’ll be holding a special Lucky Draw at 2:30pm!

Everyone is welcome to come along and grab a ticket — and you don’t have to be there to win! ✨

There’ll also be gluten-free, low-sugar cakes and biscuits, espresso coffee, lots of different teas, and plenty of herbal drinks available to enjoy. ☕️🍰

And the lucky winner will get to choose one of these three beautiful pieces by Eda Blank Eda Blank. 🏺✨

Come along, enjoy the gallery, have a cuppa, and grab your ticket!

Our gallery is open from 9am to 3pm this Saturday.

Did you know that 50 years ago, a small, passionate group of local potters came together for the very first time? That single meeting, in late 1976, sparked a creative flame that led to the official incorporation of the Gold Coast Potters just a few months later! From those humble beginnings, we have grown into a vibrant community of over 240 members.

Our upcoming Student Showcase is dedicated to that incredible legacy. By spotlighting our student artists, we honour our founding members who paved the way while nurturing the incredible future of ceramic excellence on the Gold Coast.

📣 Art & Craft Market Stallholder Spotlight 🎨

NATALIE YATES DESIGNS “Hand built ceramic vessels that celebrate the quiet beauty of process and the unpredictability of natural materials. Working primarily with Nerikomi and Obvara techniques, Im drawn to the way clay can hold both intention and spontaneity. My Nerikomi vessels are formed from layered and patterned clays, revealing intricate lines and organic rhythms that emerge from within the material itself. Each piece is a slow, meditative construction, allowing the clays natural colours and patterns to guide the final form. In contrast, my Obvara vessels embrace the raw, elemental energy of fire. The Obvara firing process creates smoky, textured surfaces"soft, earthy, and completely unique to each moment in the kiln. These pieces carry the marks of flame, water, and air, capturing a fleeting transformation. Together, my work reflects a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, experimentation, and the quiet stories that handmade objects can hold.“
