• Alessandro Boezio • ‘Consciousness’ ... When I close my eyes and I move away from all thoughts, I forget the world and its shapes. In this way my body could be anything elevating in shapes spoken by my unconscious. The space where the bodies move is not real, it is metaphys.

• Paola Paronetto • ‘Volcanic Pastel’ .. The CARTOCCI collection is comprised of unique paper clay sculptures, each piece with its own distinct personality. They are entirely handmade, using a long and complex procedure which can result in slight variations of size and shape. These variations add value to the sculptures, as each piece offers nuance and exclusivity.

• Hannah Moulds • ‘The unnameables IV’ .. the thing that you see in the corner of your eye or the shadowy masses in the dark after the lights have been switched off. I am intrigued by biomorphic strangeness, of the existence of the different and the unfamiliar...

• Mimi Kind • ‘Elma IV’.. consists of two self-made electromagnets in playful interaction. A circuit switching each electromagnet component on/off causes their steel pins to wiggle and generates attraction between components.

The piece presents energy in a raw and unadorned form, whilst simultaneously arranging the elements in a somewhat organismic structure. Kind is drawn to electricity and magnetism, as forces with mysterious qualities that evoke a ‘lifeness’ to the objects they act upon and travel within. Electricity flows from the circuit, through twisted cable and a copper coil wrapped tightly on a machined steel rivet, producing a magnetic force that brings a vitality to the delicately weighted elements in Elma IV.

• Jaco Roeloffs • ‘Superegg 2’ .. represents the rapid multiplying of single use coffee capsules, which symbolises human convenience and its impact on the environment.

Appearing levitated above ground, the textured geometric superegg, as documented by mathematician Gabriel Lamé, exhibits the contradiction of disorganised recycled packaging rearranged in perfect lines.

The visceral experience engages the viewer from all angles and distances. Over 3000 capsules were collected via a call to action on social media and the local community. Superegg allows the viewer to peruse waste and encourage new recycling habits.

Superegg first appeared at 2019 on Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast. Jaco won the Emerging Artist Award at the festival with the work and images of the installation was widely publicised in the media.

• Mimi Kind • ‘Spin cycle’.. is a gesture of intimacy. Pulling air from between them, they draw closer together in exchange. Two fans are connected in a very particular set of conditions - their interaction determined by the speed of their blades, and the length, weight and flexibility of their aluminium arms. There is a joyfulness to them as they circulate in their looping motions. But at the same time, their system is highly delicate, akin to the delicate scenarios in which intimacy occurs.

• Jaco Roeloffs • ‘Sandberg’ .. is a geometric glass installation that recalls the shape of an iceberg, appearing to emerge from below the sand, frozen. The digitally printed sand is permanently fused in glass, merging the raw material and the image of its origin…
…Sandberg first appeared at Festival 2018, on Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast. On the eve of its second public exhibition appearance, it was destroyed by the 2019-2020 bushfires in Victoria.

What we do

DOCUMENTED ART works with artists to make more art forms accessible to more people. So much contemporary art is ephemeral in nature, too large for the average home or unaffordable for many people. We believe that the beauty of installation, sculpture, street and performance art should be within reach of all art lovers. We give such work a new life by turning the photographs (documentation of the original art) into quality, fine art glicée prints.

When you buy a DOCUMENTED ART print you are supporting the arts. In fact, after the cost of production, the majority of what you pay for an unframed print goes directly to the artist who created the original work. Our artists are thoughtfully hand-picked by our curator to offer only top quality art.
