Scriabin's acquaintance with Rimsky-Korsakov took place in 1894 The first works of Scriabin N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, together with other members of the Belyaev circle, met with great approval. Leonid Leonidovich Sabaneev (b. 1881) is a composer, music writer and critic. Pupil of S. I. Taneev. Author of a number of articles and books about Scriabin. In his works, he wrote a lot about Scriabin's worldview, often attributing his speculations to the composer. Together with B. F. Schletzer (who did the same), he contributed to the creation of false views on the objective significance of the composer's creative heritage. From 1926 he was an emigrant. Just returned from my mother's grave 1 and first of all with you, my beloved, little, would like to share possessed? I have a complicated feeling. Challenging and new to me. But how? You can't talk about it. I would like to convey otherwise. I regret that you did not know exactly the hour of my stay in the cemetery, then, I am sure, you would just see all that I experienced on an expensive grave. Dear baby, I've suffered a lot these days, and the trip to Arco has brought me some comfort. I'll tell you so much on a date! You understand why I don't want to write. I'm so grateful to you, my star, for the rays that come from you and constantly heal my soul. Sorry, baby, that I fell into such a tone. It's only a wave. I'm already better. I'll be cheerful. But I needed your affection so much! Today I I was going to lie down very early. I literally didn't forget that night. I was spending the night in Milan, and I had to get up at six o'clock in the morning to get on the steamer to Riva. Preoccupied with the trip, I couldn't sleep.—How wonderful it is here! A real paradise. The vegetation is rich, the palm trees are like in Nervi, but, in addition, the majestic mountains and the lake, in front of which even Geneva pales ! This is not an exaggeration! How offensive, how painful it is that you are gone! You know, when we go abroad in the spring, I will certainly show you this place! - Well, goodbye! I go to lunch, and then buy-bye!IRLI, F - 294, op. 3, e. h. 33. Published in part in the collection "A. N. Scriabin", Moscow, 1940, p. 236, with reference to the book "Vladimir Stasov" by V. Karenin (part 1, ed. "Thought", L., 1927). Fully reproduced for the first time. 1 The Third Symphony was performed for the first time in Russia in St. Petersburg in Russian symphony concert on February 23, 1906 under the baton of F. M. Blumenfeld. Concert program (HMS, inv. No 9 6 1 ) : I otd. Scriabin. Third Symphony. II otd. Lyapunov. Polish; Rimsky-Korsakov. "Fairy Tale"; Mussorgsky. Suite from the opera "Khovanshchina". Like most of Scriabin's works, the Third Symphony caused controversy among both the public and music critics. "Complex texture, refinement of harmony, remarkable thematic richness and artistic consistency in the development distinguish this symphony [...], it is felt that the autoo thought immediately in orchestral colors, fluent in the orchestra" (Theater and Arts, 1906, No. 11, p. 171). This review by A. Schmuler is supplemented by a review by M. Nesterov: "Scriabin is undoubtedly a great talent, in many respects peculiar, but not yet established. He is still looking for a way out, looking for new forms, seeking to enrich the means of expression, craving novelty, sophistication, sharpness and a variety of impressions. That's why there's something unsaid in all of his works, and a lot of it smacks of questions, doubts... A. Scriabin failed to say a new, clear word in the field of music with his third symphony" (Our Life, 1906, February 28). The commented letter was a response to the letter of V. V. Stasov dated February 28, 1906 "The most gracious, dear Alexander Nikolaevich, with great admiration I attended the celebration of your 3rd symphony "La divin Roete". Even at a large rehearsal, in the hall of the Noble Assembly, Wednesday, February 22, she aroused the sympathy and admiration of all the few, but understanding something in the new music, who were present there; the next day, Thursday the 23rd, she aroused both surprise and deep sympathy of the large public. The Hall of the Noble Assembly was full, and I think from this evening you have added many hundreds of admirers and admirers! And it couldn't and shouldn't have been any other way. With this symphony you are strongly in y r o s l i ! You've become a very big musician. In the kind, warehouse, form, form and content as this symphony is created, we have e s h e n i K t o n i s a l ! Of course, there is still quite a bit of R and x a r d a B a g n e r a, but there are also many, many a lot of A l e k s a n d r a S k r i n a . What a challenge! What a plan! What power and what a warehouse! How much passion and poetry in the P-th part (Voluptes)l But also the orchestra - how wonderful, mighty, strong, sometimes gentle and charming, sometimes brilliant! Yes, you now have, among the Russians, already many supporters and admirers. Immediately after that B e l i e v s k o go concert on February 23rd there was a string articles in newspapers. Of these, I am sending you here in a letter: 1) In The Country, February 25, bernstein's Nick; 2) In the "Speech", February 25, signed: ASH (real name - Schmuler, a recent student of conservatsry); 3) In "Our Life", February 28, signed: M. N. ( - N e s t e r o v ) . Don't think I'm sending you these articles for any choice. Not at all - they just caught me with l u h a j n o, these days, in some of the newspapers I receive daily.- I must admit that we now do not have any talented and talented music critics.
