Sad news about Simon Harvey from his wife, Moira. Simon had been dealing with Melanoma cancer for some time, but having treatment to hopefully arrest it's progress. Unfortunately it became clear fairly recently that nothing had worked, there were no other options and it had spread relentlessly including to his wonderful brain. He died on Thursday with family in the amazing Peter MacCallum cancer hospital in Melbourne , peaceful and positive to the end. Please feel free to email me if needing to know more... Bendigo classical musician Cathy Moore, who taught at Catherine McAuley College for more than 30 years, has been remembered for inspiring generations of local musicians through her dedicated work.

Such sad news this morning of the passing of our friend and colleague Catherine Moore. Cathy was an amazing French Horn player, and joined our horn rank whenever she could. Her family posted this today:

"She is gone. Cathy passed away peacefully this morning at 10:15am, surrounded by her husband and all her children.

Cathy was a gifted musician and a generous teacher whose love of music and learning touched countless lives. She filled her home with warmth, humour, and unconditional love, and shared her passions for theatre, food, and culture with everyone around her.

Thank you to everyone who has sent mum messages over the past month; she read them until she couldn’t read any more and then we read them to her. She was so touched, and we are so glad she left this world knowing how much she was loved.

We will forever carry her memory in the music and joy she inspired.

Details of her memorial service will be shared soon."
