Definitely missing Mallacoota and the time I had to create.

The return to teaching has made studio time a bit harder to come by, but I’ve managed to squeeze in two workshops since being home. Hopefully I can make more time for me, and my practice, over the coming weeks.

Just a little experiment from the studio at the Mallacoota Art Space as part of my TAIR residency.

Burnishing clay has been sitting in the back of my mind for a while, so I gave it a go. I’m curious to see whether this process might find its way into my practice alongside the paintings I’ve been making with natural pigments. No big plan… just testing ideas and seeing where they lead.

A good day in the studio sometimes starts long before I get there.

Spent the morning out and about exploring. Collected some beautiful orange and red clay near Pebble Beach, Mallacoota. Now to process it, experiment, and see how to integrate it into my work.

I drove down to Mallacoota yesterday to begin my TAIR residency with the Mallacoota Art Space Mallacoota Art Space

A huge thank you to Yolande Oakley Artist for showing me some of the local beaches today. It was the perfect introduction to this incredible coastline…walking, observing, and taking in the textures, colours, and details of the landscape. Also to Stephanie Mew for a tour of her studio space!

I’ve officially moved into the studio, and tomorrow it all begins. Looking forward to seeing where these first impressions lead.
