๐ทPlease welcome back to AFCM the talented 2025 AFCM Fellowship Ensemble Andromeda Sax Quartet!
Consisting of Paige Gullifer, Rachel Down, Henry Docker, and Ryan Piccione; four friends, each an advocate for the often obscure world of โclassicalโ saxophone. ๐ต
Selected for their exceptional artistry and dedication, the Andromeda Sax Quartet will represent the future of chamber music through performances, workshops, and community engagement as part of the AFCM Pathways Program.
Led by AFCM Pathways Program Director Lloyd Van't Hoff, their journey includes appearances on the AFCM Festival Main Stage, in the AFCM Festival Garden, and on tour across the region, inspiring audiences and mentoring young musicians.
Formed in 2022 on Gadigal land, the members of Andromeda met as students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and formed a quartet to compete as finalists in the conservatoriumโs Concerto Competition. Since then, theyโve enjoyed performing together not only across Australia but around the world.
In 2023, Andromeda were winners of the prestigious Henderson Scholarship, enabling them to travel to the European University of Saxophone in Gap, France, where they received mentorship from some of the most renowned saxophonists in Europe.
July 2024 saw the quartet take to Townsville, Queensland for the annual Australian Festival of Chamber Music, where they were mentored as part of the International Masterclass program. ๐
The Andromeda Sax Quartet will give five free performances on the tour:
