Shaun Parker & Company is seeking expressions of interest from individuals interested in joining our Board of Directors, with a particular welcome to those who may wish to be considered for a leadership role as Chair.

Following many years of dedicated service, our long-standing Chair has recently stepped down. Their leadership helped guide the company through a significant period of artistic development and international touring, including during the challenges of the pandemic. As the company enters an exciting new creative phase — developing and launching new works — we are seeking additional board members to help support this momentum and contribute to the organisation’s next chapter.

THE ROLE
Board Directors join a collaborative and engaged company committed to supporting the organisation’s artistic vision, governance and long-term sustainability.

The Board would particularly welcome expressions of interest from individuals with governance experience who may wish to be considered for a leadership role as Chair. This role may be well suited to someone with experience in the arts or cultural sector who is ready to step into their first Chair position with the support of an engaged board.

These are volunteer roles suited to individuals who are passionate about the arts and interested in contributing their skills to an innovative Australian dance company with an international profile.

We welcome applicants with experience in:
- governance and board leadership
- finance, legal or risk management
- philanthropy and fundraising
- arts management or cultural policy
- marketing, communications or partnerships
- arts education
- digital or technology

BOARD COMMITMENTS
Board Director terms are for three years (renewable) and members are expected to attend 6–7 board meetings each year, attend performances & networking events, advocate for the company, and support fundraising and strategic development.

Expressions of interest, including a biography/CV and statement of interest, should be sent to: [email protected]

SP&Co is proud to announce the establishment of the Shaun Parker & Company Choreographic Fellowship, made possible through the generous support of the Denise and Michael Kellen Foundation in New York.

The Fellowship offers an Australian choreographer of exceptional talent $100,000 per year over two to three years to develop a major new work on the company’s nine dancers; a rare and transformative investment in Australian dance.

We are thrilled to announce that our inaugural fellow is Wiradjuri and Gamilaraay choreographer Beau Dean Riley Smith

Beau is currently in development on STAIN, an unflinching new work exploring the stains left on this land through the violent origin story of colonisation.

We hope this act of incredible generosity by the Denise and Michael Kellen Foundation inspires others.

We believe Australian dance is worthy of your boldest philanthropic investment! Congratulations Beau!

On this National Sorry Day 2026, Shaun Parker & Co. acknowledges the deep sadness caused by the historic removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children by the Australian Government. We honour the resilience of survivors, families and communities and seek to amplify their voices in our work.

With the 2026 theme being ‘from Sorry to Action’ today is an opportunity for all Australians to recognise and reflect upon our shared past; and envision better pathways forward together - on and off the stage.
