🎶 Showdown at the Soundshell 2026 🎶

What an incredible day at the Gargarro Botanic Gardens in Girgarre on Sunday 29 March!

Now in its 4th year, Showdown at the Soundshell brought together 20 talented young people aged 12 to 18 for an unforgettable youth music competition. The atmosphere was amazing, with a fantastic crowd enjoying a free sausage sizzle, fairy floss and snow cones, plus delicious eats from Boost Juice and Shakin Dawgs.

This event was proudly funded by Amplify and the Victorian Government, with support from Girgarre Development Group, Born n’ Bred Australian Red Dirt, YAG and Campaspe Shire Council.

We were also proud to have Mayor Daniel Mackrell announce this year’s award winners:

🏆 1st Place: Matilda Altoft, $1000 cash and a trophy
🥈 2nd Place: Blake Robinson
🥉 3rd Place: Maggie Oliver
⭐ Best Young Artist: Harlow Sleeth
🎧 Born n' Bred Recording Session: Lucy Herberte

Congratulations to the award winners at the 2026 Showdown at the Soundshell. Beautiful performances in a beautiful space.

1st place Matilda Altoft, 2nd place Blake Robinson, best young talent Harlow Sleeth, the Born n Bred Recording prize to Lucy Herberte, 3rd place Maggie Oliver.
