Did you know that when each Australian Children's Laureate starts their term, they are gifted an extraordinary piece of art in the form of a carved wooden Magpie?
This beautiful statue is handcrafted by artists Andrè and Cathy van Niekerk from Feathers of Australia based in Perth, and is a truly special part of becoming a Laureate.
The Australian Children's Laureate Foundation would like to sincerely thank Andre and Cathy for their amazing work and their generosity in sharing it with us.
