I’m so proud to share the success of Geraldton Open Studios & Surrounds (GOSS) on stage last week but I’m even prouder of the local presenters and sector who shined bright for Regional Arts WA’s Mid West creative ecology Summit. It’s been an honour to help coordinate this; weaving my intimate knowledge of the local creative ecosystem & community into the event over the last nine months. Thanks to Alysha Saunders for inviting me into this contract role before I joined RAWA and to Alysha and the advisory group for bringing their thoughtful, high level arts knowledge and conversations to the table for this Mid West masterpiece; Beverly Brosnan, Rebecca Millar, Roni Kerley, Lily-mae Kerley, Briony Bray & David Bowman-Bright, thankyou!

It’s time for a well deserved break but I’m also excited to see where we go to together from here. Thanks to RAWA & the Mid West Development Commission for partnering to present the summit for the Mid West, Alysha Saunders for her brainchild and programming genius, Nils Hay for again backing the arts for our region, Julian Canny and the Euphorium team for their magnificent facilitation of the afternoon session, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Minderoo Foundation and City of Greater Geraldton for their support which enabled Mid West creatives to rightly shine! And to each and every local presenter, facilitator, venue operator, artist, caterer, staff member, videographer, contractor, attendee and guest whose willingness to show up and professionalism made this day a smooth running, magnificent success for all (please see special mentions in RAWAs post below), Thankyou!

Last but not least thanks to the RAWA team for all of their contributions including board members Rosie Sitorus; a natural born MC & Chair Oliver Bazzani, CEO Dr Pilar Kasat and General Manager Catherine Driver for their kind leadership. Shout out as well to the amazing RAWA staff members for their contributions; Gemma Robins (stage director), Natalie de Rozario (marketing queen) as well as Jaala Kuempflein, Carla Steele, Megan Lemon, Janine Oxenham, Martin Tunley who I have had the absolute pleasure to work with this last year.

Thanks as always to our ever guiding Mid West arts leaders and mentors, Charmaine Papertalk Green & Marianne Penberthy for shining their thoughtful light for us all, thankyou!

There’s something very special about the Arts in the Mid West and it’s really good reason to come together. Let’s continue to encourage the arts, culture and creative sector in our region to shine!
